FiTech with G-Surge
http://fitechefi.com/fitech-uploads/...structions.pdf
https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/fif-33004 Anyone running with one of these G-Surge Modules? I assume this is an upgrade to resolve the reported Command Center issues. |

I guess not...
trying to decide between going that route or an EFI tank setup. |

I did not know. I run the FCC. That looks interesting. A bit more $$$ than the FCC.
I read the instructions, and it looks like it will take the same supply from the existing fuel pump. The only plumbing difference is that it plumbs a return line from the TB back to the surge tank. The FCC dead-heads the supply to the TB. It is also rated for a little bit more HP. I'm committed to where I am, but it is nice there is an additional option. It also looks like a sleeker and more compact unit.

Fitech seems to be changing the game. I see they are offering a retrofit intank module soon....

That's one thing I like about the way they do things. Innovative, and quick to respond to market demands. OK, so there was a lot of $#!^ talk about the FCC and some issues, and everyone started doing a Tanks, Inc. setup. If FiTech can engineer the same thing for similar price, why not buy as an engineered matching setup?

Theyre doing it cheaper! the tank module looks like a nice piece and is the route I was exploring anyway considering they don't even make a repo tank for my car. I had to modify a smaller gto tank to fit so it will save a lot of hassle to just further modify my existing tank. also ALOT of their issues are installer related

I read more about the G-Surge, and it looks like it was developed to help with lateral g-loads, like maybe autocrossing?

Seems like there would need to be some venting. Maybe not???

I was wondering how quickly it would empty with say, a 455+, at WOT, considering if it is fed by a stock 3/8 line and pump.

A friend of mine put the mean street 800 unit on his 540 BBC that dyno'd right at 765hp and was having all the FCC problems you read about. I just built a trans for him and was going over his car and literally laughing out loud at his fuel system. Mechanical edelbrock pump pulling from all stock line with various pieces of rubber tied in and NO VENT. He already put a carb back on and gave up on the fitech but I asked him if this is what was feeding his control center and he said yes. All I could do was shake my head... I way over built my fuel system the first time around with aeromotive everything but wish I could find a way to gravity feed this thing with a stock tank. Any ideas?

There is fuel in, fuel out to TB, fuel return from TB, and vent line to tank. The plumbing diagram and instructions look like it assumes an un-vented electric supply pump to the G-Surge. The FCC runs a float/needle valve assembly. The G-Surge does not run a float, and should not have any air in it. Any excess fuel capacity is sent out of the G-Surge and back to the tank.
G-Surge volume is 1.5 liters, so I guess HP and duration would all be based on that 1.5 liters, and whatever replenishing capacity your supply pump can make. Pump in G-Surge is 340 lph, just like the FCC. I like this piece. Seems like it is doing the same thing as the FCC, but no needle and seat as a possible fail, and no onboard fuel pressure regulator on the G-Surge.
