how much boost?
How much boost can a stock cast piston take in a 77 400? Just to set up all the plumbing in the car before the turbo motors done. The play a little too.

People did 5 to 7 psi in the old days with Carb "Draw Thru Systems" many times without issues. 7 psi could add another 100 hp or more to a engine fairly easily.
Today 12-14 with a GOOD C&S Blow-Thru 4-bbl carb and you are talking maybe 175 increase in the engine. Cast pistons should survive at an actual 400 HP for a long time if you don't get greedy. A Heavy Forged TRW Piston in a 455 made 863 HP with only 13 psi at 5300 rpm so a cast piston you would think should survive at 1/2 that hp. Tom V.

I think ring gap would cause a issue before the piston.

I’m running 5-6 in my Wife’s supercharged 1979 TA with a 400 in it BUT I wouldn’t go anymore! It is a street car!

I agree with the others, 6 should be ok just remember to pull some timing and use decent fuel. 6 will give you a healthy boost of torque
