Default A little EYE CANDY

This engine is a 12 cylinder Aston Martin Engine.
I was the Boost Engineer on that program in the USA for several years until we sold off Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volvo to raise money for the Bankruptcy that closed GM and Chrysler, We survived.

They were cool cars/engines to work on. I learned a lot about those engines. And more about doing greater than two turbocharger boosting requirements.

There is a PY member who has a V-12 Jaguar who would like a similar set-up on his V-12 engine (if he could package it in his early XKE Jaguar). I have visited his shop and we have some ideas. He is an outstanding Fabricator type guy too. His aluminum Body work is 1st Class.

So I am helping him on that deal.

Questions? Ask Away.

It looks cluttered, wouldn't want to work on that in an engine bay! Then again, what new car isn't cluttered. Is that V12 based on the old Jag V12 engine? I'm assuming that it is quad turbos?

Wait till you see GM's new truck engine for the new full size 1500 pick up trucks. A twin turbo 4 cylinder.

The Aston Martin Engine was NOT the same as the Jaguar engine by any comparison except that they both had 12 cylinders.

Aston Martin vehicles were selling for well over 100K even years, ago Jags for half that amount.
Aston Martin won the 24 Hrs of Le Mans last year, with a boosted engine. Jags were not even in the running.

That being said, the quad turbo set-up was designed to go into a production vehicle where the owner just writes the check and someone else works on the thing. The 4 turbo system never went into production. Neither did the Centrifugal Supercharger version that was a lot easier to work on and made the same power.

The point of the pic is some people (like the Jaguar guy on the PY Board) had friends who said "you should put 4 turbos on it like the Aston Martin special engine had". Course then they would get $$$$ for fabricating the parts.

Ford GT90 engine? What is/was a GT90?
Shame Ford had to sell Aston Martin- the new Mustang REALLY benefited from AM's styling.

GT90 was a play on numbers vs the GT40 cars of the 1960s. The GT-90 was done in the 90s by a group of engineers that worked for Ford Advanced Vehicle Engineering and reported directly to Jac Nassar. I worked in that group for 8 years as the 'Boost Engineer' for the different Programs, (before I was transferred to Ford Research to work on programs even farther out in the future). We were doing 10 speed transmission work at least 10 years ago. The 10 speed went into production in the last year or so. So we were 10 years out in the Research stage.

The 5.0L (302 cid) Coyote Engine that has made over 1400 hp, (rear wheel dyno hp), was obviously a use of the "Coyote" and "Road Runner" Cartoon comics.
