Actually, my dad got it for me for Christmas, and I just took him up on the offer. It's not bad for a guy who doesn't have the garage space or height for a real lift. When I'm done, I can just disconnect the hoses and slide them under one of the cars. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a full rise lift, but sometimes you have to make the best of your situation, and this isn't a bad alternative, especially if your dad is in a giving mood!

Just got mine in as well a couple weeks back. So far I am loving it. Pump and cables store neatly on a shelf and lifts store under the car. It's very portable and I can throw it in the truck for the track. Also, where most lifts obstruct the center of the car, these leave it wide open for access. I wouldn't complain if it went a bit higher but so far hasn't been an issue.

Curious, what does one of those run? Big $$?

I like that one Aaron. Except for height it's better than my scissors lift.

I've had Quickjacks for almost 2 years and they have changed my DIY life. It's also awesome that I can take them to the race track.

I've pulled transmissions with less height than this, so I'd say you definitely could. The only problem might be not being able to pull it out from the sides, but that shouldn't be much of a problem on most cars. That's why I didn't get a scissor lift, even though they usually lift higher; everything in the middle of the car is totally open, so you can get to exhaust, driveline, etc.

Which size model did you get? I have the new, big 7000 model on order. Looks like that one is the best size for my 64 as well as for my Jeep. I bought the added "SUV extensions" which will lift it another 4" as I recall.

I got the 5000-SLX. I did some measuring, and I figured it was big enough for all of my stuff, plus it has a slightly lower profile than the 7000. I haven't yet lifted my Buicks with it though, so we'll see. They're by far the biggest cars I have. The weight shouldn't be the issue, however, but the length.

I got a little chuckle seeing all the card board on the floor. I remember when I was a kid and would see the card board on the floor when he was working on his cars. Sometimes having the car just that much off the ground will make a job easier, especially not having to get out the jack and jack stands. Happy wrenching!

Question... Are there locks so they don't bleed down?

Yes, there are locks. In fact, I tried to lower it yesterday with the locks engaged and it stopped immediately upon hitting the locks. It seems like a good setup.

How flat are those things, when all the way down?

I think it's about 3 inches tall. It fits under the Firebird easily.

Is there something I'm missing? How stable is it side-to-side? No cross-bracing?

There are two separate lift components, one on each side that aren't physically connected. However, think about if you put your car up on four jack stands, this is basically the same thing except instead of two jack stands per side you have one lift component. It's as wide or wider than a jack stand so the stability should be as least as good.

I'm thinking of getting one but that 17.5 inches of lift height makes me a little unsure. The scissors lift for three to four hundred more has much more lift height.
