Does the Navy even have BT's anymore? That was the favorite "cover" for your crowd in the day.
edit: evidently not, merged with MM's in 96. |

One of my more favorite sayings back 'in da day' 25 Years Navy Retired EM1 after the first two enlistments, Seabee CEC after the last four.

US Army - 1972 through 1978.
Spent the majority of my time in Europe - mostly in Germany but had 2 special assignments to NATO HQ in Belgium. Finished my 6 years with an 18 month tour at the Pentagon. That 6 years did a lot to shape me as a person. |

When I was a kid everything was closed on this day, which we call Remembrance Day here. I don't know how that ever changed.

Similar experience - made Chief Torpedoman the same year I was selected for LDO. Surface guy stuck into the submarine community as an officer. 25 years 6 months 18 days in my shadow box. I was a weapons nuke as opposed to a 'damn nuke' ...
![]() As Wild Bill knows those first two years as an ensign were like a Chief's initiation that just wouldn't end....

Bill, I'm curious: How did they handle your pay? I'm sure a master chief makes more than an ensign. Did you take a pay cut, or was their some special circumstance in play for mustangs?
