Hello. Buying my '05 GTO in a couple days when it arrives at the dealer. It is being shipped with 18" summer only tires. I requested the 17" rims be put on the car which the dealer said they would do for me.

The dealer made the comment that the overall height of the 17" vs. 18" tires are identical and thus they shouldn't have to re-program the computer on the car, etc...

Does that sound accurate to you guys?

Thanks for the feedback!

First of all ls1gto.com for any tech data / info you need. Secondly, yes, no recab required...

Before you make a decision on wheels, you may want to take a look at this. Best wheels I've seen on the goat to date...

The price is definatley right!

Thanks for the info and the site.

I love the look of the 18" rims and tires and am sure I would probably notice a handling difference as well. The problem is that I live near Chicago and need to drive the car year round. I don't think the 18's would work for me in the winter and I won't have the money before then to invest in another set of rims and tires....

Guy, don't be dumb. Keep the 18" rims and find some used 17's on Ebay or in a junkyard or even on LS1GTO.com in the classifieds and buy some good snow tires. You can do all that for under $500. You can save that much before November.
