Bought my 70 GTO in 1972 for $3000 plus my trade-in; 67 Chevelle Conv. Chevelle was a rust bucket with busted rear suspension, carpet was shot and seats were all torn. Got $900 on trade-in. Looked good in the dark. Bought GTO at night. Still have the GTO

I still consider myself lucky.Last car traded a SD block(matching nos for the new owners car)for a 74 SD rusty w/block and heads(I sweeten the deal w/NOS SD exhaust system).

have had several over the years, but these stand out.
1975 got my 1st car, a 1967 SS 396 350hp 4 speed 350.00, traded it even for my 2nd car 1969 Nova SS 396 375 hp 4 speed. those were my high school cars. drove it for 2 years, painted it, sold it for 2000.00 and bought my 1st TA, a 1978 bandit
1980 bought a 1970 GTO 455 Ram Air 4speed 125.00, sold the mags, alum intake, holley carb for 200.00, so -75.00. still have it.
approx 2006 bought a 455 SD engine 1500.00 carb to oil pan, then found a SD body complete, missing the SD motor, but with a 1970 455 for 2,000.00.

Now, RA-V w/48's, P65 w/dual Carters, M22, 12 bolt, slider links, Long branch manifolds, Pypes SS exhaust, YO 17" rally's.

How about this one. In November of 1975 I bought a 1962 Super Duty Catalina with only 12,000 miles on it for a whopping $2,000. See the top link below for the full article. Yes, I still beat myself up every day for selling that car.

Bought my 66 in Feb 1983 as a 16 yo junior in high school. Paid $2600, which was probably too much, but it had tri-power and I had to have it. Talked my parents into co-signing a loan, and paid it off over a two year span. Still have it today.

I didn't think I'd like racing stripes on the hood of a GTO, but after looking at the white car, it appeals to me. I even like the body colored rims on the car. I watched the video. There's nothing like the rumble of a Pontiac. -Luke

The stripes were some kind of vinyl stick-on things, same thing on the trunk.
Wheels were Olds ralley wheels. All this was from previous owner(s). Did'nt look too bad, but I had it painted blue within 6 months..

My parents sold me their '69 GP--428/Auto in '79 for $650, after way too many speeding tickets they made me sell it. Then purchased a '69 Firebird--350/Auto for $1200 later that year. After driving the wheels off it and burning up the tranny it was sold for $600 in '81. With that money and $200 more I bought a '69 GTO--400/4spd. That summer also purchased a '67 GTO--400/4spd for $500. Worked on and drove those two until 1983 when a Blue/White int. '75 Formula 400 came up for sale. Sold both GTO's and bought the Formula for $2500. Two months later, a meeting with a semi trailer ended that poor cars life. (should have never sold the Goat's). Next year '84 I bought my '69 Judge for $350. It was real rough, but ran and drove. After a lot of time and money that is the one I still own today. A lot of others have came and went over the years and always got progressively more expensive. I still long for those early days!

A friend of mine had a chance to buy a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible Factory 426 Hemi,4 speed.7 made? The price was.......12.000 dollar. This was the 80`s.The owner worked as a "carpet man" and the car was perfect to use as a workcar.Just dropped the top and the carpets in the backseat! Anyway,my friend couldn`t afford the car at that time. That Challenger is back in the US and I think it`s restored.

PS: I have the car in a book called Swedish Musclecars.Factory paint: Plum Crazy.

Yeah, those GTOs are a bad influence. Anyone here remember the episode of Seinfeld where George was driving the '67 GTO? lol

Mt 79 Formula was ordered in late October or early November of 78.... can't remember the exact month right now. Sticker price of 7985.55 on the passenger's window. When I picked it up in May of 79, and got it for 6500.00 as the dealer [Hutchinson Pontiac Sales Rouses Point, NY] and I had made a deal when I ordered it. I'd delivered Pontiacs to him and neve had dameage on them. This 66 GTO I have now cost me 17,600.00.... 3rd owner.

The day I got out of the Army in 1985 I paid 750.00 for a 69 four speed ram air 3 GTO. I promptly took it to Mexico for a new interior and paint job that I paid another 450.00 for.
Someone had replaced the four barrel intake with a two barrel, it also had a 1970 judge wing on it. Original engine though.
