That is a very rare car, not to many Sprint A-Bodies made in 1969 (or 1968 for that matter) Quite a few Firebirds. And it came with a 4-speed. From the 1 picture I can't tell if it has a Saginaw or a Muncie M-20? My old rusted away 69 Tempest Sprint came with a Muncie M-20. The only year a Muncie was available behind an OHC-6, and only on the A-Bodies. Not available on a Firebird.

Also the Gauges were standard with the sprint package, but a tach was still optional.

I don't think that's correct, Jeff. You have some documentation of that?

You may be correct on that, I see it has Ralley Guages listed as an option, not much info on 69 Sprint A-Bodies out there. And my Memory is not as good as it used to be. I remember my 69 Sprint as a Tempest, but it was really a Custom S.

True. An original brown car convertible with a 4 speed, wood wheel and walnut shift knob is something you don't see everyday. I'd bet it would look stunning if taken back to original.

If anyone is serious about the car it’s only 45 minutes from me. I could go put eyes on it.

PHS posted (and more pics) on the 69 Sprint. It came with the wire hubcaps. Those hubcaps look awesome.

Like that 'bird, but I gotta imagine that the current bid ($15K) is still far from final.

Is it just me, or are you looking at this car like it would take 6 months to finish?

From the pics, it doesn't look like it will take much to complete.

67 Firebird at $18K with a reserve and $36K BIN. Butler Pontiac engine w#670 heads (would not have been my choice of heads) is a big plus. This is a real Pontiac with a dumbass steering wheel. Put some Rally I's on it and man would that stand out.

4 barrel carb and some extra HP.

Pontiac OHC & Sprint 6 Performance
It’s important to note that, while they all had the same overhead cam design, only the performance variants of the Pontiac OHC inline sixes got the “Sprint” name.

Base-trim OHC sixes were equipped with a single one-barrel carburetor and made around 130 horsepower. Sprint sixes benefitted from a hotter cam, Rochester Quadrajet, and a few other enhancements to push engine output well north of 200 horsepower.

In top fighting trim under the hood of a 1967 Firebird, the Sprint 6 made 215 hp. For comparison, the Firebird’s base 326 V8 was making 250 hp that same year. At its peak, the 1969 Sprint 6 topped out at 230 hp.

Famed tuning shop Royal Pontiac even offered a hop-up kit for the Sprint motors and, when tested on the drag strip, that extra performance could easily put you into the 14s.

The Sprint equipped cars also had a floor shift 3-speed manual as standard, the the 1bbl version got a column shift 3-speed as standard, also the spring rates were stiffer,(they have base V8 spring rates) and there were a few other differences year to year.
