Default Cheap running project-‘54 Chieftain

Not mine. My son is stationed at Cherry Point NC Marine base and saw this listed locally. I assume it’s a local thing or Facebook?
Anyway I guess it runs and drives. Too cheap not to look into, but he’s moving in a few weeks and has a 9 month old, so not practical for him.
Guy is asking $4600. Fresh engine rebuild, looks like a complete car.

Not that cheap for a more-door in that condition.

It's a great deal for someone into those cars.

Exactly. On the HAMB, that would be a $8000 asking price minimum.

It would cost $7000+ to get the engine rebuilt

I read recently, but can't remember where, that Pontiac originally intended to launch their v8 in '54 thus the '54 cars are ready to accept the v8 engine. Just saying.

That is correct but it was the 1953 that was supposed to get the V8

I couldn't yank the cool strait 8 for a run-o-the mill v8(don't get me wrong I here for the V8s but...). Just curious how slow would it be say compared to a 326 2bb 2 speed?

Them old straight 8's were pretty fast back in the day and could still

The ad says the motor has been rebuilt, it has a new clutch and rebuilt brakes, and the car runs and drives, so the mechanicals hopefully aren't an issue.
