That's looking really nice and Verdoro Green is my favorite color for 68-9. With your willingness to wet sand and polish. That will clean up a lot of the dust bunnies we get painting at home.

You should have the car on the ground to fit your sheet metal. The frame can flex a little when on jack stands.

Looking nice though!

The front jack stands are under the sway bar bushings to flex the frame as if weight was on the front wheels rather than under the frame at the cowl so that the frame hangs down. I've definitely seen the flex when they are under cowl/frame.

I've gotten down a polishing system that seems like it's going to work for me. Some photos of the worst piece of metal on the car. This fender was a MESS, a drilled holes and dent puller kind of mess, I took out filler 1/2" thick in places, front corner bashed in, eyebrow over the wheel well bashed in, 80% of the entire time I spent on body work on this car was on this fender alone. Still no where close to perfect, but I can live with it.

Ummmm...yes, that's an understatement for sure!

Your polishing and body work both look great.

That paint will be gorgeous in sunlight. Must be fun to be this close to finished paint.

Well ... I don't think it's quite that nice, but I think he'd let me park it in his driveway

A real purist is going to notice that the pain in the butt scallop above the wheel well is too flat, that subtle dish that runs lengthwise, I just gave up on getting the metal right in that area.

Yep, can't wait to see it outside ... kind of scared though, I know I'm going to see things I don't like. I've got probably a month of sanding and polishing before then, and may end up sanding and shooting some more clear on the quarters.

I’ve come to the conclusion in my older age...I can appreciate someone doing something outside their comfort zone. I see cars at cruise nights at all different levels . They are all good in my eye. There is a guy with a 66 Riv ( Bronze ) ...that has some Zebra stripes on his hood...he’s there every week...and has fun. And I bet he doesn’t even see them...

I've got those stripes on my trunk .. I can leave them and call them GTO Tiger Stripes, or if I have the materials I might reshoot it.

Actually the reason I don't have stripes on the rest of the car is I took some of your advice on how to shoot the metallic.

Just glad to help….and you did your part and listened and followed instructions. It’s looking just fine too.

Did you make a post of these instructions? I would like to hear what you have to say about how to avoid zebra stripes.

They don't have to be perfect.....just driven. Looks fine to me. Home paint job on my '67 in 1993 is still holding up 29 years and a zillion miles later. Not perfect, but I sure enjoy the heck out of the car and people love to see it out on the road.
