Windshield cost?
Does anyone have a current approximate cost of a windshield?
And will a 1980 version fit a '73? Thanks for any info. |

I believe they are the same 70-81. I just put a 78 windshield into my 73 Formula. I got it at a local yard for $75. I priced them new a couple of years ago, and they were around $225 installed.

Thanks. I'm parting an '80 with a decent windshield and have a rough-ish '73 needing one.

Same windshield 70 to 81, but make sure it has the antenna wire in it and that the lead has not been cut off during removal. The lead is extremely fragile and is in the center of the windshield. It connects to a terminal under the dash, in the cowl, under the plastic grill. If you are not careful with the removal tool, you can easily snip that little wire.
A new windshield is around $200 installed. (That is unless you want one that is dated coded and that adds more $$$ and shipping costs which can double that number). |

What are you guys using to remove the windshield? A fancy tool or a guitar string, or what?

I used a cheap windshield removal tool my brother bought from Harbor Freight. But I was only removing the old broken windshield, so I didn't have to be careful. The wrecking yard removed the replacement for me.

It depends if the windshield was installed with butyl (soft and easy to slice through) or urethane, (hard to cut even with a razor). Two people with a piano wire is a good method. The hardest parts are the lower outer corners near he fender edges.
