70-73, all are just fantastic to me.
since I have a 71 myself, and I really like the lower side panel louvers, I chose it as favourite....though all of the 3 years appeal;
1970 due to the first prod. year, the seats with the headrest,
1971 like mentioned above and the H.O. & 455 options,
1972 due to the factory strike making it a 'rarer' year
1973 due to the brewster green 455 SD, and going in against all by making the fastest most powerful car back then to date even kickin corvettes etc.....and offcourse the 'new' 5mph nose correction while still keeping that awesome nose (sorry, dont like the 74 model)

i'm just a sucker for the 70-73 birds....tops the 1st gen (to me), and later years just dont appeal that much to me (the early 2nd gens just have a more smooth, italian sportscar look, while later ones (bandits) are cool, but a bit more rough)

I DO like them ALL,but 1970 IS the best, just because it's the ORIGINAL design & that makes it the BEST.

Every year after was compromised/changed for safety, emissions & styling.

I LOVE the 70 Trans am,but I think my ALL time favorite would be a code 26 1970 Formula 400 with bright blue custom trim,Ram Air III, M21,tach & gauges & a posi.

That is the PERFECT 1970 F car

Nothing ELSE is needed!

Guess I'm biased.............having 1 of the 189's

So 1970 it's for me!

Also a plus that was the year I was born! Always cool having a car of your birth year!

Hope I can continue funding the car? Having a baby in 3 weeks!

I made sure to copy a link to the thread with '70 only parts....to keep up with all the specifics. Would like to do the right thing with this one!

Happy Holidays Guys!

73 Formula SD455. Now that's a rare ground pounder!

All the best of early 2nd gen looks.

Let's see..... I have a 72 Formula. I will never be able to buy in to own another 70-73 Formula due to value now. My net handle has been Bird72 for 12 years or more on different sites. I can't own another year or lose my net indentity.

I guess that means I vote 71's.............

I do prefer 72 for the sole reason the have the best grille and hands down the best with honeycomb rims. I don't like double seat belts either. I don't prefer the 71 fenders, although they don't bother me. I like the high back buckets. I don't like the nose bird metal emblem. I don't prefer the 73 recessed grilles. I like the pre 73 interior trim (more metal). I don't like the orange front signals. There is all the aesthetic stuff.... did I offend enough 70,71, and 73 owners

so there..............

Even though I own a '72 Formula, and I'll soon be owning a '74 SD T/A, I voted 1973.

'73 has the awesome early 2nd gen styling and the SD engine. No contest, IMO!

I picked '73 because owning one was dream of mine since childhood. The legendary Super Duty, Screaming Chicken, and those way cool looking fender braces really floated my boat!

If it wasn't for the SD, I'd chose a '71 because of the round port 455 and a functional hood scoop. And I love the stripes too!

I like all the Formulas, doesnt matter what year as long as its 2nd gen or 4th gen. Always liked the 70-73 nose best, and the only way I would have a favorite of those is by the ones I own. The 71 is rougher than the 72, and with only one choice allowed, the 72 wins. Having 1 of the 276 makes a difference as well.

I think I would off someone just to get my hands on a 70 though. I shoulda bought that 70 TA for $5k back in 99. Wonder if he still has it....
