Agreed. That seems to be the biggest downfall of most of the retro's.

Heck ,since 1982 The T/A has been a camero with a body kit.It quit being a Trans Am when they went and stuck a s.b.c in them for the rest of the duration.Maybe a few handling improvements,,,but still a camero heart and soul.

Hear Hear! Agreed!

Question is, should we consider the IA II block a "Pontiac" engine at heart? I think it embodies the chieftain spirit for innovation and performance. The outer dimensions are the same as Pontiac after all....

No disrespect to the newer ones,,Is kinda like nascar for me,,when they got away from brand engines and went with the "corperate small block".All same car just different sheetmetal. The new ones will definatley haul though. And probably more dependable than our old tech stuff.

I have pics from SEMA of both the "Bandit" version and the Lingenfelter car in my gallery

www.musclerodz.com/gallery

Personally I think Lingenfelter did a better job after seeing both first hand.

those wheels are EXTREME FAIL >> why did they not use YEAR ONES for it!?
the (lower) bumper is sticking out FAR too much to the front. PERHAPS,
if they would have layed it in deeper it might have looked a bit better.
the shaker scoop is too round for the design too.

in the end it is all to obvious; you can't take a classic beauty with way different shapes and put it on a 09 car. it doesnt work.

i don't like it. even though i expected it to look worse then it actually does. but still. imho - FAIL.

oh and BTW - this rear end has to be the biggest fail ever - only pontiac i can remember failing extremely is the XXX GTO...so sad

Just think, some designers stepped back took a good look at those taillights and spoiler, and said "Oh yeah; thats IT!!!"

25 yr old
NOTHING wrong with 25 year olds - im 24, and i can do helluva job better then that , just by a pen, paper or photoshop alone.

got nothin to do with age - creativity and vision are the problem. even though i like the new mustang, challenger and camaro - they are only a fabric due to the shortage of creativity and vision by the people responsible for their design or ther relative positions to it, and the people responsible for the end result/ the people approving certain designs.

take the new mercedes sls 'gullwing' for example. a total vision of fail. even more when looking at the current mclaren slr - far more beautiful then it's replacement.

the 4th gen firebird, especcialy the 98-02 model, is, though imho riced up a little- a gorgeous futuristic, sleek, supercar. it looks far more advanced and newer then the current 5th gen camaro or even those lame trans am prototypes.

age ain't got nothing to do with it!

just because one is 25 doesnt mean they belong to the fast & furious matchbox crackerbox toy generation who think having a fartcan the size of a bazooka on a 1.0 l 4-banger is COOL and adding star wars materials to the car makes it even cooler and gives you 'street cred'. i barf on that.
i drive a 71 firebird because i LOVE that car. nothing can replace that car. why? it's got soul, it's got character, it's got life. when i see the designs above - its a dead shell (even a failed shell). same goes for the new stang, chally and camaro. soulless. a bunch of plastic that's moulded to a classic car.
if i look at delorean's original banshee designs - man how gorgeous is that! why? because it's got soul, its got character and you can see it has been designed by a creative mind

and yeah i take that personally.

I have to say, with all the DOT rules,EPA,Obamamama crap rules, don't you guys think maybe this is the best they can do(especially the Lingfelter car, which I like best)with a 2010 Camaro???
There is no more Pontiac, let alone TA's,,come on guys,if you had the cash most of us would like to have that 655hp resto 70's TA in our flocks,I know I would, even Kevin's design minus the rear end..

Whatever happened to low slung and sleek?

Most of these concept cars look like they took a box and put a nose on it and a spoiler.

If they want a retro look, they need to make the body sleeker and lower.
And no combining 1st and 2nd gen looks.

IMHO
