Default Spring Covers missing

Hey could someone tell me why my engine builder didn't re-install original spring covers?

Probably because he used aftermarket springs that are probably a little wider or thinner than the stock springs and match the cam he used in your build. Just from your picture, the look like comp springs and retainers.

Just curious, I noticed you have a 1970 GTO with a four speed. Mine is an automatic 400. I have matching numbers car also, but always wanted a 4speed. I wanted to convert mine but wanted some advice on whether I should do so.
Could you tell me what the rpms and MPH for each gear. At 70 MPH I tach 2800 with 3.23 rear end
Do you have a pic of your car, always enjoy looking at 1970 GTO's!!!

Thanks

Mine is a completely stock 4spd, AC car with 3.23's. Just the way it was when it came out of the factory, nothing has been changed, added or altered from the original build sheet/sticker. It has an M20 spd and runs at 2800rpm at 60mph based upon the tach reading and mph off the dash speedo and gps. (dash is about 2mph slower, with the correct gear in the trans, than the gps. Checked it against a Tom Tom and a hand held unit.) My car still has the 225/70/14 tires also.

Converting one to a 4spd isn't a big deal, just have to have all the parts that go with it to do it right.
I sometime wish mine wasn't a #'s matching car because I want to "play" with it and I just can't do that to a car like this. I do drive it and have fun with it though! For a stock 70 GTO that weighs 4030lbs with me in it, it's run a best so far of 14.51@98mph. Its a turd taking off when it comes to 60' times but chucks on down the road once it gets going.
