It's a shame that these have yet to be reproduced, not that I own a car which needs them.

Wondering out loud - is the equipment and expertise available to digitize correct, original stripes directly from a car? If so, I imagine that it would require a sizeable investment.

Sounds to me that some one who knows Ralph @ S & S needs to see if they can get the ball rolling.

A digital camera, a pencil scrape on paper (shows Hi's & lows) & really good measurements......

the fun part is when it all has to be tapered or squooshed to follow body lines

I have copied NOS ones down to .001 of an inch so Im stumped.
Bob can, or can't?

Those statements are from PM's dated may 2007.
Gary has tried but lack of good information has not been easy to get. There are not to many people out there with the original stripes to compare tracings or copies to verify the correctness of the reproductions. So all the stripe mfg's will run into the same problem. They copy NOS junk and we end up with crappy stripes or incorrect "guesses" at what they should be when they fix the problems.
Craig
So it appears that we have a willing supplier (cammer) A set of NOS stripes, and owner(s) with factory applied stripes (Bob and Dan) All these elements are together... where EXACTLY is the problem? I'd like to help however I can, but it seems we already have everything we need to bring this project through. What more do we need here?

455HOGT37,
That was the last PM i recieved from cammer-6 about the stripes,I didnt quite understand that either.I dont think Bob ever heard back from Dan(Jensen). I think he was/is too busy with restorations and racing.I think a good tracing and measurements would probably get it done.

Craig,

I spoke with Dan several years ago and he said he was willing to take a trace off his car so I could get them (painted) somewhat accurately on my car. It is fair that he might now be busy with other things. I guess then... we need somebody with factory applied stripes to step up and verify/correct the prototype stripes produced by Cammer. Mine are long gone (and were in bad shape anyway), so I'm out... Anybody know anybody?

All I have that could be used is some fenders and then the door part of the stripe would be a guess. I did send Cammer6 some measurements and pics from what I have a few years back and if someone needs them I could do it again. I'm sure a rubbing from a complete set would be the best way.

As far as I know S&S and Pheonix graphics are not interested in this project...if they were they would have listened to some of us years ago and this post would be dead and gone.

Any updates on the possibility of getting these 2 color stripes repro'd?

Default New Happenings

Just this week, an eBay auction appeared with a COMPLETE NOS set of all six D98 stripes in WHITE/RED from an old closed Pontiac dealership.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1182

I bid on them, but then the auction mysteriously ended early. Apparently the seller was contacted by someone who told him get in touch with Phoenix Graphix about reproducing the stripes. When I realized the set was no longer for sale, I contacted the seller to ask why. He responded and told me that he sold them to Phoenix.

So now Phoenix Graphix owns a complete set of NOS 1971 two-color eyebrow stripes.

That is good news indeed!

That was me. I saw the Ebay auction and told him to get a hold of Phoenix Graphics. (since it was a complete original set). He didn't know what he had. I figured it would do more good if they could be reproduced for the masses instead of one lucky person getting them. (sorry, if you were THAT person!)

The repro stripes just showed up today on phoenix graphics.White and red or black and red for 239 dollars.I think i will get a set. I believe white and red would look best with lucerne blue but not sure which the factory would have used. What do you guys think?

Wow that was quick.

I would think a Lucerne Blue car would have had White/Red stripes, but I don't know for sure.

I know copying a set of stripes isn't rocket science, but that's some impressive turnaround time for a larger company like Phoenix Graphix!

Default score

I just scored 3 pcs of an nos white and red set of the stripes (enough to do a side) on ebay for less than 10.00 plus shipping. I took a chance as they were listed as FB but I thought that they were not so I figure what the hell and turned out to be a good score. Mark

I saw that auction. They were listed 2 or 3 times before that and got no bids. Good score. I have 2 NOS pieces (right and left quarter panel stripes) that I probably don't need now that the repros are out.
