Default Intake manifold stud location 1970 GTO.

The car I'm restoring was pretty much together except the seller took the intake manifold off to look inside the engine. He put the bolts in a bucket. I pulled out what looks to be five bolts and five studs that fit the ten intake mounting locations. This is an A.C. car. I have seen pics showing studs on the pass. front two holes and the driver side second one back. That accounts for three studs. Can someone enlighten me please.

Thanks for the link. It says on the drivers side the front stud goes either in the first or second hole (depending on alt. bracket) which accounts for four studs unless my car had a stud in each hole. Does anyone know if the car would have used five studs?

Default Only 4 studs.

There are only 4 studs. Two on the passenger side toward the front. The other two are on the driver side. One in the way rear for the bracket that mounts the throttle cable to the carb and the other toward the second front for the alternator bracket. If you need to repurchase the bolts, a place in Virginia has them. I would need to find the catalog, along with the part number. None of the Pontiac places sell them. Let me know if I can help you any more. I am working on mine and drew a picture of the stud locations, so I DO KNOW where they go. Good luck on your project.

He's wasn't going to see much by just taking the intake off. Need to take off that valley pan. Don't the AC cars have 5 studs? 2 for the AC brackets on the passenger side? Front and second hole back from the front and the rear corner of the passenger side, and the second hole back from the front and the rear hole on the drivers side. I dont have AC so I only have the 4, but i thought I saw AC cars had an extra stud.

Just four studs with A/C . . .

1970:
Driver's side, front to rear: bolt, stud, bolt, bolt, stud
Passenger side, front to rear, stud, stud, bolt, bolt, bolt

Check with our host here if'n you need new hardware!
