Now that would be a cool car to haul my German Sheperds in.

Firstly I want to thank and give a big shout out to firstyearta for selling me this car and for arranging her to be shipped to CA in time to ship on the 5th of May. She is exactly as Kenny described her to be, and she got all the way to Perth without another scatch on her.

Yes it definately is a YH 455 and although the Importer said she ran like a hairy goat, I got her running on the first crank. If I can upload a video I will.

But first it was introduction time. Didn't want the Firebird to feel missed out.

Firebird meet GoatWagon.

Here she is....

Kenny told me about the latch for the tailgate being broken, so he provided me with a spare. I got a nice little surprise when I opened the box.

Now the plan ahead is to concentrate on the suspension, replace all bushings and rubbers while I work out what I need for big spares. I'll need a windscreen (w/intergrated antena) as there's a crack in one corner, (unlikely to be passed by the inspectors) and rear wheel arch patch panels.

The first start, after 3 months on the boat.

then the camera battery went flat, so a quick change and here she's running.

My balancer needs changing though.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to toughen up this car. All the trailing arms are boxed, with extra bracing.(I'll take a pic later) I'm not sure its an open centre, it may be an LSD (PosiTrack). (missing the bolt where the tag is held, so might have to do a burnout on the concrete to make sure. There's no intermediate E-brake cable. I've found more receipts in the Ashtray so not a smokers car.

It's got the obligatory pump up rear shocks.

Definately a YH 455, with 4X heads. The TH400 is a '70 PD so might be from the same car as the motor. Has a trans oil cooler as well.

Exhaust manifolds look like RAIII - (RH 4 manifold-to-head bolts and 3-bolt exhaust flange). Cant tell much about the LH because of the heat shield. might not be (only dreaming).

15 x 8 WS6 snow flakes have unmarked lips and will scrub up well with a polish and a repaint.

AQIS (the local quarantine service) have a lot to answer for......looks like they invoiced ($675) for cleaning they never did. Underneath is just like the photos on the Ebay entry. I've found leaves and twigs behind the front right hand guard. Mud and dirt in all the door jams and tailgate.

Very Happy and no Falcon photos....this is a strictly a pontiac thread.....LOL

Thanks Loffen,

One part of me says "don't go too wild......" but then I look at how much is not original. All I can think of is "sleeper".

Yes, sleeper would have been my route to, with the original engine gone and the work that's must be done an original restauration is possible but not very wise when you look at the cost/value, just make it run like it looks, fast

I bought it from one of the members here, "firstyearta" who had it in Utah, and was very kind to arrange shipping to California. All up it cost just under $5 K to get it to my door. So with the car I'm in for $10 K.

The great thing about living in Western Australia, apart from great beaches, wide open roads, and fantastic weather, you don't have to convert your cars over to RH drive, and you no longer need to run "Caution Left Hand Drive" stickers on the back bumper, like you're some kind of "Gimp"(i.e Forrest Gump) or something.

LH Drive vehicles are now treated like any other vehicle and only have to comply to the Australian Design Rule that was current during the year of vehicle manufacture. i.e 1972.
