Brake pedal too high
The brake pedal seems too high on my 68. The brakes work fine it’s just awkward lifting my foot from the gas pedal to the brake. Is there a way to adjust it or am i possibly missing a piece? The car was originally 4 wheel manual drum brakes but I installed a power front disc kit.

Not sure Firebird is the same as the A body but the Brake pedal should have two holes in the arm. Manual brakes use the upper hole, power brakes the lower.

Pretty sure my 69 is the same as your 68, but yes, there is an adjustment under the dash by the brake pedal. It's a threaded rod. I had to add another inch of threads on my brake booster threaded rod for my car. In my case my knees are fused straight (can't bend) so I had to lower the brake pedal another inch or so so I could safely drive it. Been driving it like that for 3-4 years now.

You need the little bracket that bolts to the brake pedal and depresses the brake switch.
This bracket allows you to then shorten the brake pedal rod lowering the brake pedal.

After some googling, I found the bracket you are talking about. Looks like there is a rubber bumper that goes in there also. I got them ordered. Hope that fixes it.

Just a FYI. The reason for two different holes in brake pedal is to accomodate the different master cylinders used for manual or power brakes. You will notice manual master cylinders mount flush to firewall and horizontal to the ground. Power brake master cylinders mount to a booster and at an angle to the ground. The holes allow the rod to remain at same angle as the master cylinder.
