Default !980 Trans Am Wiring Question

also posted in street section but was told to try here as well.

I have a 1980 Trans Am, is the alternator field wire a switched 12V only hot when the key is in the run position and NOT in acc. it is the brown wire @ position CX in the engine harness connector

I am going to be running a self exciting alternator so I don't need it for that but I figured this would be an excellent wire to energize my fuel pump realy.

alt plug wires at alt- 1 or r is on off with key. 2 or f is hot constant. so f is out. r would probably keep generator lite on if connected to a relay. also may not have enough current because it is resisted. look for something else.
