Default Comp Cams Hyd roller lifters

I've checked everywhere and Comp Cams hydraulic roller lifters aren't available at this time. I know this is very subjective, but what would be your second choice for lifters? I know that Johnson is making a limited travel hyd. roller lifter for a Pontiac but they are about $200 more than the Comps. Anybody use them yet? What about other brands?

I bought the Lunati lifters to go with my Lunati cam cause I got them from a guy that had a stalled build for a song. My machinist inspected them and said they looked to be fine quality. He is doing the lifter bore mod anyway but Butler sells the Lunatis

Lee Atkinson is designing a custom Comp Cam for me. He said the lifters are on back-order. Supposed to be a two weeks wait. I'm waiting for them.

Hylift Johnson A-2347SE
A-2347RE if you want variable duration.

" I've checked everywhere and Comp Cams hydraulic roller lifters aren't available at this time..."

So, does that mean you've also checked with these vendors ?

These sellers show to have the 857-16 lifters in stock.

This Ebay seller claims you'll get 'em by May 7.

Paul K can most likely get you a set and probably at a great price.

That "s" should mean that they're the Shaver made lifters, which have the Pontiac oil band location.

Don't think anybody will find a better price than this.

I've gotten 2 sets of hydraulic rollers in the past couple months. One set from Paul K and the other set from Paul C.

May as well give up on the Johnson lifters right now. Paul C has been waiting for them to run another batch for several months now. They've been unavailable for that long. I was hoping to grab a set by the time I was ready to button up the current 455 build I'm working on, but no dice. Still not available and from what I understand from Paul there is no current due date as to when they'll run another batch of them.

I get things like tooling, supply and demand, minimum order runs etc. but issues like this are precisely why so many pontiacs have LS engines under the hood.

I know what you mean. I like Pontiacs just as much as anyone here, but I'm also a realist. I know I can make as much or more power with other brands for less money and not have to wait for one off parts to be made available either. But ,,, Sometimes we're stuck.

And from what he told me, Paul's been after them on the phone for months about it.

Ironically, most companies use the same hydraulic roller lifter for an LS engine in a Pontiac. They just add a tie bar.

Since it has been established in this thread that the 857-16 lifters ARE available, including a below retail price set, from a member, there is no need to consider a "second choice", is there ?

The reason he mentioned the "s", is because it has been posted here that, in the past, CC has substituted lifters made by Morel, when they were out of Shaver made lifters. The Morel Lifters had an "M" in the part number, and were Chevy lifters, with Pontiac link bars.

No, they're not commonly available from the normal locations most would check IE: KRE, Butler, Summit, Jegs, Comp themselves. There MAY be a few sets floating around out there, but when you read they will be shipped at a later date, that means they don't have them in stock and hope to get them from Comp, which currently doesn't have them. Pretty obvious to most that there is a shortage of these lifters at this time and most would like to see what would be a good alternative if needed.
So, thanks for everybody posting their second choices! Good for me and everyone else to know. I'm buying the set that one of our members just happened to have at his house so I'm good for now.
