In my original 1988 Bonneville, if you disconnect battery/electrical.."loc" message appears on radio. In past times (15-20) you simply followed manual sequence of 1. turn ignition on 2. turn sound system on 3. hit mute button on steering wheel and then "loc" message disappers and sound sytem turns on normally. This time it won't, dealer couldn't fix. Any suggestions? parts available? Could be burnt optical card underneath steering wheel?

On my 88 GTA I just start punching buttons over and over and it comes back on. I never had the "code". See if it works.
