FYI in case this can help others. I could not get the dash lights on my 88 firebird formula to work at all. After changing all bulbs, fuses, headlight switch, dimmer switch, dimmer control module, and checking all grounds, I decided to check the dimmer control module (again). Even though I just purchase this new, it was faulty. Rather than spend another $30+ bucks on a new on, I simply changed the silver power transistor located underneath the heat sink, with a radio shack replacement (cost about $3 bucks)and low and behold, the dash lights work great!

Thanks for all the great suggestions....
