'63 Bonneville HEI Wiring
I have a question about a '63 Bonneville. I recently put an HEI in one for friend. I couldn't find a good key switched 12v source. The Ign./Bat. terminal, and all the other key switched terminals, goes dead while cranking. I've never seen this before. I wonder if the ignition switch if messed up. I ended up hooking it up to the original coil wire for now. I measured 11.48v at the distributor while running. It had 13.1 volts at the battery. I assume in '63 they had a resistor in the wire to the coil. I probably could have found a good wire to splice into. I just didn't want to start hacking up his harness. Anyone been through this?

use a relay . use the coil wire to operate the relay switch coil. you can use non switched power for the relay power.
