Pretty sure 660 center squiters,427 Ford 2-4 Holleys will fit straight.Center hung flote Holleys will need to go sideways.Tom

It will be really interesting when folks get these and put some effort into them and see how they run.
There are a few out on running engines now but no serious effort stuff. I would like to see how that 2 x 4 intake stacks up vs a nicely done Victor intake. |

Performance wise I hope their noting like the Polar intake. Which for me was a big disappointment over a fully ported Victor. But they both look more like the nostalgia intakes. So guys going for the nostalgia look aren’t really going to know the difference performance wise. A nice street cruiser with 2-4 or tri power set up. Nice Cruiser/ car show type of deal. I mean a nice 461 ci pump gas deal with a performer rpm intake little hyd Crower cam and a Q’jet made 500 hp. They’ll be two nice nostalgia pieces. I don’t know how much of a market there is for them. But hey they’ll be out there for years to come.

The folks who want to run a street dual quad setup will likely be buying the new KRE and not searching for the old Offy or Edelbrock intakes. Also those who wanted one of the bathtub reproductions but couldn’t stomach the $2500 price tag will surely gravitate towards the KRE offering.
Die hard Tri-Power enthusiasts looking for more power will be grabbing these up as well. With 750 hp potential this should cover those who are wanting a 600 hp Tri-Power street engine without having to shell out big money to port one of the aluminum reproduction 1966 intakes to get it.

Everyone had plenty of time to buy one, and those who missed out will at least have a cheaper and attractive alternative now.

That 2 x 4 intake is single plane and the top comes off. I bet someone will max port one and put up some good numbers.
I wonder what will be used for linkage on them. Will they be made for sale or will a buyer have to come up with it themselves ? 625 $ for a brand new 2 x 4 Pontiac intake manifold completely made in the state of Ohio, United States of America is cheap these days. Jeff Kauffman should be commended and is a huge asset to the Pontiac community. |

There’s a little more to this, the 2-4 intake doesn’t come with a crossover. They give you the opportunity rather then have to pay someone to port match to you heads, so price out the whole thing. 2-4 intake port matched to a 340 cfm head is a total of 765.00 if you add the Insurance, that’s kind of odd asking if you want Insurance. Now your also going to need the Crossover which is a 90.00 bucks.
They also ask you what state, sales tax is different for all states, So that intake with crossover for a 340 cfm head is a whopping 914.85. So now we get into the big question linkage, how much ( if the offer it ) is that going to be. Or good luck chasing it all down. You could easily spend another 100-150.00 for linkage set up. I say this show the buyer beware, of what you getting into. Like I said if you’re going for the nostalgia look and fitting this all under the hood, that shouldn’t be a problem. But The Plenum area, obviously from the pictures it’s very lacking. My guess is so everything will fit under the hood. Again I’m not knocking it it’s great for the guys going for the nostalgia look. But having the capability of making 750 hp, you are definitely going to need more than 1 inch spacer. I know I know there’s going to be disagreement on that. Forget the 750 hp, you just want the nostalgia look and hay say 500 hp. Just be aware its not exactly as its presented in this discussion. By time your done you could very well end up spending more like 1150.00. Also keep in mind the cost of the 2 Carburetors fuel and lines. You could well be into the whole deal for 1800-1900 bucks by time every thing is said and done. Again I’m not knocking it, its great. For a guy that money is no object, and theres many out there, will jump all over it. Because he wants to get all original look at nostalgic GTO. |

One can only hope that is one of the things that Jeff said is right around the corner.
But the anti KRE crowd will knock that too. Can you imagine "all the dollars" it would take to finish a OHC PONTIAC now !!! Forgetting all the thought and effort it takes to bring these types of things to the public. |
