I bought my 70 Judge in March of 1988. Soon after I was encouraged to buy this 71 Judge that was sitting on Briar Bluff Road between Reedsburg and Wisconsin Dells. I had a co-worker that lived on Briar Bluff and he passed it everyday on his way into work. I was interested, but never bothered to go and look at the car. Like 68bird400HO, I couldn't afford the $2300 as I already had one car to house and restore. Over the years I had thought about this car. I figured there was a good chance that it wasn't a real Judge. I was stunned in 2011 when a thread appeared on this forum showing actual pictures of the car. It was real and had been sitting in the Dells for over 20 years.

The vacant Carlson Pontiac building in Reedsburg was torn down last year and a huge new ATV sales building took its place.

The car was stored near Lake Mills during that time, not the Dells. The owner also owned the Dells Auto Museum which was only open during the summer months, but actually lived in Lake Mills where he kept his cars.

The ATV place is next to Culver's across from Airport?

Roughly, yes. The airport is a little ways down Main Street, and Culvers is beyond that I believe.

I appreciate people chiming in with their memories of The Judge, it helps me complete its history.

Paul, I especially want to thank you for sharing your stories with me last weekend at the Pontiac show.

Interestingly, I met two other guys at the show, Eric and Bjorn, who also knew of the car in its Lake Mills days. I just let them tell their story, as I didn't want to feed them information I already had. It was pretty clear that they too, saw the car several times while Dick owned it.

I'm currently working with the original owner's family to see if any early photos of the car are in anyone's photo albums. I'll post if I receive anything.

For now, I think the car will head out for a couple more rides and then head into an early storage. I think this winter will be a carb rebuild from Sparky and new brakes & lines all the way around. Oh, and a timing chain is probably a good idea. The list keeps growing...

Does anyone know what 1970 & 1970 GTO/Judge production with the 3 speed looks like?
IIRC a local has a metallic brown '70 Judge with the three speed.

Not sure if all those 124 wanted a 3 speed. I'd get the m-22 for the money.

Seems more like 124 people didn't know a 4 speed was an option. And don't think an M22 was offered in a 70 GTO…..not till 71

I think there are several reasons why someone would have a 3-speed, even though from our modern-day page paradigm it sounds ridiculous.

When you go up the totem pole with engine options, standard trannys become much rarer, which is why you'll find something like the Judge with such low numbers.

I know that not all Judges are in the registry, so does anyone know of other '71 Judge 3 speed cars out there?

I believe mine is the only one listed in the registry, but maybe a couple others of the 11 made survived?
