Default Really striking out with Sylvania bulbs

As you know, we have sealed beam headlights. I found out we can replace those with S10 headlamps (lmc truck sells the lamp and connector for $34 each). These come with a set of Sylvania bulbs which work great. But I want the ultra-bright zXe bulbs.

Order the 9006 bulbs, as recommended. Turns out they don't fit. Order the 9005XS bulbs. They fit great, but one of the bulbs is dead out of the box. Now I have to return those and hope I get 2 good ones. I emailed Sylvania support, hopefully they will send them to me quickly.

Aren't these newer cars supposed to be more reliable

I've had absolutely no luck with Sylvania bulbs in my wife's 08 Vibe, sometimes they last 3 months and if I'm lucky I might get 9 months out of them and I always replace them in pairs, not just the one that went out.

I started buying Phillips and have had much better luck with them as far as longevity, only problem is almost every store carries Sylvania. You have to look a little harder to find them but it's worth it. K Mart carries them, but we lost our last K mart around here around the first of the year.

I want brighter headlights for my 2000 Formula. Does anyone know of a brighter light bulb than the OEM bulbs?

Go the route I did with the custom LMC headlight housings. After I finally got the right lights that worked for my car, they were super bright.

So what did you install? 9005XS bulbs or ultra brute zXe?

I'm looking at the LMC website and I don't see either one...

OK, I think I figured it out. In your original post you referred to them as lamps or headlamps and that through me for a loop. What I want to order is a set the custom headlight housings and the plug connectors. The custom headlight housings use a bulb unlike the OEM sealed beams. The 9005XS bulbs will fit in the back of the custom headlight housings.

Did you have to upgrade the headlight wiring harness other than replacing the plug connectors.

Did you use 165mm or 200mm?

I ended up ordering something made for the car since this thread went dead. I installed 6000K Xenon HID lights from Amazon. They work good and my wife likes them in her daily driver WS6 T/A.
