Thanks again for great friends, here, and your prayers!!! I have been in the hospital now, for one month and one day. My C6 and T6 vertebrae were both fractured. The first doctor that examined me, told me it was a true miracle that I was in the condition that I was. I stepped out of the 2020 suburban that I had been driving, onto the lowered stretcher to be transported.

I had been test driving the suburban after repairing a tire. I was in the inside lane of a 35 MPH street waiting to turn onto the street headed back to the shop (only about 100 feet from my h[use, I live VERY close to my house). Just 3 a mall city blocks south of Route 66.

Google intersection of Watts street and Country Club road. El Reno, Oklahoma)..

I saw a flash in my rear view mirror of a Dodge Durango doing around 60-70 MPH, thinking,, what the....?

I did not loose consciousness, started praying right after impact, while dialing 911. Noticed smoke in steering wheel area. Got the door opened, thankfully, praying for that!! ( AIR BAGS DO NOT EMPLOY IN A REAR END IMPACT, ANYONE KNOW WHY? TOV.???)

Suburban was rolling southward, slower than a walk, came to a stop against the curb. I then call my boss, after I called 911.

The ambulance was at the scene in about 2.minutes or so. Thay asked me if I could stand, I said, yes they helped me take one step to the stretcher. Then to Yukon. Oklahoma hospital. They checked me over.

After reading what happened all I can say is you are one TOUGH dude!! Wow, making those calls and putting yourself on the gurney with fractured vertebrae, especially after that colossal impact is incredible.

My mind immediately called up that video of the guy in the $150,000 Comet when the brakes failed and slammed into a minivan at about the same speed. I think many of us have seen that video.

A month in the hospital has got to be rough. I hope you get to go home soon and wish you all the best in your recovery.

Jeff if you get stir crazy, and are looking for some encouragement or….say want too talk cars, give me a call. I will probably be knee deep in metal shaving’s trying to make a Pontiac speedier for Great Bend, and need a break anyway.

If you have access to it you could also FaceTime me at Great Bend and I can flip the camera catch some to the show. Stay on course and get well soon!

Thank you all again. We'd after noon (the 24th). I moved from Jim Thorpe Rehab Hospital in Oklahoma City to a rehab center that specializes in only rehab, not as much medical treatment needed. Kind of the finish line in sight for, although I will still have to stay with my brother for a while, until I'm released by surgeon to live byyself again.

Vid, the ONLY reason I am alive and NOT completely paralyzed or dead, is God's Grace!!!

Having been in a hospital since day of accident, I'm doing much better thanks to all of your prayers!!!

I have been and will be healed!!! I WILL drive my TA at Great Bend soon!!!
I will return to my job as a school bus driver!!!
Just SOME of the things I will be doing!!!

Glad to hear and see your back Jeff. I missed this as I haven't been on PY much lately. I hope you have a full recovery. Make sure your insurance company goes after his and they nail the SOB. Also get a lawyer and sue if you have too.

Anything broken in your back or neck is not fun. I've been thru endplate compression fractures of L1 thru L4, and it was no picnic back in the 90s and still bothers me today.

GT,
This happened while on the clock. I work for the local school in my town, El Reno, Oklahoma. Route 66 goes through town. I had just turned off of 66 onto Country Club Road. Was in inside lane of Country Club, waiting for traffic to clear ( ONLY 3 small city blocks. Mind you).

I see a flash in my rear view mirror, it was an older Dodge Durango, looked to be doing at least 60 MPH, it hit me square in the back. So in the approximate length of a football field, the other vehicle had to be close to full throttle!!! I have been an automotive enthusiast all my life. Especially drag racing. My estimation of the other vehicles closing couldn't be far off.

I did not know that air bags do not deploy in a rear end collision?

The other driver was a 32 year old woman, she was taken away in an ambulance, I know nothing about her situation, other than she had the minimum insurance.

Since this happen on the clock, it is a workmans compensation situation. I am doing better every day. My plans are to be back at work, some time in the future, repairing school buses.

It's a miracle that everything worked out so well, Thank You, Lord!!

There were likely only 3 possible scenarios possible in my wreck with the C6 and T6 vertebrae being fractured.
1. My current blessed state of being.
2. My cerebral cord could have been affected. And I could have been a vegetable.

3. I could have died in that suburban, or in the ambulance...

YES, I have an attorney looking after me, RIGHT NOW!!!
This kind of work is his specialty. Our first phone conversation was about all the places (insurance and whatever else) that had $$$ in it that I can have access to!!! I feel good about him working for me!!!

Tom,
The Surburban is/was a 2020 model. I'd post a picture of it, but I have a new phone. That I have not yet conquered yet!!! I obviously have a picture in my phone, and cannot believe how damage the suburban received...
I was wondering if the suburban has telemetry built into it possibly tell how was the other vehicle hit me??? Knowing that information may not do anything for me. I wonder how the info could impact the there party, though???

Thanks again, All
Jeff Bolton

Jeff, I wouldn't post pics of anything on line while this is still under investigation, your injuries are still present, etc. etc.
I got rear ended on my motorcycle 22 years ago at a stop sign by a pickup and it screwed up my ankle but I figured it would heal and just got compensated for the bike and did not sue the guy for injuries.
I recovered, then relapsed after the statute of limitations had worn off. 22 years later, I can tell you when it's about to rain due to my ankle throbbing.
I should have waited and been more diligent.
Dot your I's and cross your T's and don't be intimidated....you are the victim here and not at fault.
Good luck with your continued progress.
Jeff
