On the lower arm of the Z-bar, the one the clutch fork rod goes to, drill a hole @ 1" lower, towards the end of that bar. That gives you more fork throw with the same amount of pedal travel.

Then use a stop at the pedal that's adjustable, and take up the slack as much as you want, as long as there's still enough free play. Mine clutch pedal gets very close to being even with the brake pedal, to give you an idea.

I used a bolt with 2 nuts where the OE rubber bumper goes, and stick a large vacuum cap over the end. But some companies do make a specific stop. You can also use a core support/hood bumper post and rubber if you want.

It cuts down the pedal travel drastically, and clutch engagement/disengagement is much faster.

Pretty sure I posted pics of my setup here a long time ago.

NOTE: That distance of @ 1" lower on the bar could be more, I'm not holding it in my hand right now to check. But the objective is to get it as far to the end of the bar without compromising the strength of the area the rod attaches to. Some may have headers that prevents from going all the way to the end, too, but my hookers & doug's cleared fine in that area, and I made the hole as far to the end as I could.

It's hardened steel, drill at a slow speed and take your time.

I ordered the kit today for my ‘70 TA. Am just pulling the engine and trans out of that car now, so will also take a look at the z-bar mod.

I too am interested in that z-bar mod; anything that will help me to want to drive that car again!
