Thanks..I will check them out..there are a few other valvespring setups like this with no issues but nice to double check.

Not saying it's an issue but worth checking. Since you put 3.73 gears in and your now spinning it high and in the higher rpm range more but have lost hp/mph it's seems like a place to look.

About 15 years ago, 70 GTO , 3780 race weight.
12.4:1 462, 270/280@ .050 solid roller .660 lift. .Victor intake with 2" Super sucker. Race ported Es.T400/ 8" PTC 4500 stall/ 411 gear. Consistently ran 6.6@ 102 1/8 mile. Changed the 2" Super Comp to 1 -3/4 Hedman Hustler, lost .2 (6.8) in the 1/8. Also noticed that the engine rpm worsened. Changed back to the Super Comp and picked up the time. Well it's what I'm thinking is something is off or holding it back.

Theoretical rpm across the line with 3.08 gears and 125.64 mph is 4644 rpm, actual at 5300 rpm = 14% slip.
Theoretical rpm across the line with 3.73 gears and 124.60 mph is 5577 rpm, actual at 5850 rpm = 4% slip. These are calculated without assuming tire growth.

Heading to the dragstrip Saturday. I believe Andy and a few other local Pontiac guys are coming as well.
I normally always just make one change but time is running out this year, so I made quite a few little changes since last outing. Retarded the cam 2 degrees hoping to shift the power curve up and gain some horsepower up top. Installed a new set of Hyd lifters I had on the shelf, had the odd ticker now and then. (maybe bleeding down slightly?) Went back to 10w30 vs the 15w /40 oil. It is cooler now so I don't want the thicker oil takes too long to thin out. Dropped oil volume down 1/2 quart and may go another 1/2 to avoid windage problems. Set up the engine to use either a one inch or 2 inch spacer and also built a new airpan assembly for the 2 inch. I currently have a 2 inch HVH Super Sucker tapered 4 hole spacer on the engine. Weather looks good and as long as we don't have a strong headwind should be a good day. I'm hoping all the little changes are a step in the right direction.

Are they the newer ones or the older ones with the lower oil band?

Good luck TA! I'm surprised to hear you are using a 4 hole spacer, you ever try an open one?

Weather looks great up there today with a healthy tail wind. Should be interesting.
Best conditions are this time of the year and the tracks around here closed for the season already.

I usually use a one inch open, after the track results Id like to try a 1.5 and a 2 inch open..the 2 inch supersucker was out performed today by the one inch open..
