Hey Tom, I guess my first question would be, do you have the stock pressed in rocker studs? I have Crane Cam roller tip rockers and Poly Locks on my RAM AIR III motor. Nunzi replaced my press in studs with 7/16" "Ford or Chevy" style studs. Once I moved to poly lucks, they did not grab enough threads of those studs so I replaced those with ones a 1/4" longer and none of them hit the stock valve covers. Does that help?

I don't believe 6X heads ever came with press in studs. I have 7 full threads of engagement

I have Comp 1.5 roller rockers and their accompanying poly locks on a 6X head. Valve train geometry was carefully setup by Len Williams in Tulsa. They did not fit under my "vintage" M/T valve covers with the 5/16" gasket. I had to add the 3/8" RA IV spacer from Butler Performance to get enough room to clear the poly locks. This turned into a nightmare as the rear bracket for the A6 compressor no longer fit over the valve covers without massive spacers and that threw the compressor swing out of alignment. Final fix wound up being a $1700 CVF serpentine kit.

You can always just run a Chevy type one time usage jam nut, just do your adjustment very carefully.

Even if you have to buy 32 Jam nuts that’s massively cheaper then going for a 1700 buck belt drive system just to be able to adjust your valves!

Yes ,which means they where designed for the valve inclination angle of the 389 and 421 heads who’s valves do not stand up as high above the valve cover plane.

Well, that would explain a couple of things.

However, the serpentine kit did come with a new power steering pump, 140 amp alternator and R134A compressor....and now I've got a complete set of 1970 Firebird engine accessory brackets to sell.

And with the spacers powder coated, they matched the valve covers pretty well.
