Default 70 gto panel question

The molding that runs vertical....the flap at the bottom,,,,does that tuck under the carpet or sit on top? Neither way sounds great. Exposed flap or carpet edge shows.

The carpet sits on top of that molding flap. If

Exposed carpet edge. Aluminum plate covers the tubing end. Pretty easy to make it nice.

I was also confused about it and got the same guidance. I didn't expect the carpet edge to be "unfinished" but is what it is. Here is what I ended up with:
