I've never been able to do that with a 455 Pontiac, even some more rambunctious Pontiacs with a 254/262 cam and 330 cfm conventional Eddy heads. They'll make a crap load of torque though. |

I'm building a very similar set up but it has not been on a dyno yet either. 462, 10.5:1, 325 CFM E heads, 242/248 HR, Johnson short travel lifters, Crower 1.6 rockers, Northwind port matched, Sniper EFI.

Sounds like a really nice combo

BTW, the Northwind was definitely holding back my combo, it had unusual cylinder filling for # 6 and # 8. My hood clearance would not permit a spacer, but if you can use a spacer some of that might clear up. Sometimes the throttle body EFI's don't like certain manifolds due to the way the fuel is dispersed- and this is a good example. The displacement is a typo- it's 467 CID.

Agree, nice combo. Looks like a nice collection of vehicles you have which car is it going in?

The head porter has seen over 600 hp with the head/cam package. I just need to get a bit more tuning on this combo and push the mph up and drop the et.

For us to make 600hp from 460'ish ci stock block pump gas friendly engines you'll need a very got set of heads and intake. An no cfm isn't everything when i say that. I bet most underperforming build are due to poorly done heads/intakes. Just because a piece of paper says the heads are good doesn't mean they are!!

I think it could easily be done with a set of wide ports or something of the sort without spending gobs of money. |

Just need to get this one finished. Would love to see 600hp with this one but i think the rpm intake and no frills short block will hamper that |

I'd love to hear more about the wideport build when you get that far.

Made up of used/spare parts mostly. Should be a fun/interesting build. I'll start a new thread once i get further along with it.
