Still have one, 96 Roadmaster wagon, and it's still my well-loved primary daily driver with 235K miles on it. No "tough luck" about it, nothing to "deal with". Opti-Spark became somewhat of a punchline among 93 - 97 LT-1 owners.

There was a time when the Opti distributors on the market were generally poor quality. Went through a couple of those, but only needed a tow home once. I knew the symptoms of a failing unit and got it home under it's own power the other times.

Thankfully, a very high quality unit has been available from a Corvette specialist, car has been reliable for many years now.

Reality is I've never needed 4 tows in a one year period for one vehicle. But when there are 5 or 6 vehicles in the household, the AAA limit of 4 seemed a bit ridiculous.

My Daughter DID call the rental company ALAMO and they are the ones that have AAA as their emergency provider. ALAMO and AAA both failed them terribly.

I've had great luck with AAA. I was going to have towing on my insurance but when they told me it only covered the first 10 miles. Nope. The only time I got annoyed with AAA was when mu 01 Marquis lost all it's coolant when the heater hose broke off the intake. I asked the tow truck driver NOT to start the engine with no coolant. He did anyway and drove it up on the flatbed.

Loading the heap at 2AM in the Pocahontas Arkansas Walmart parking lot. Say what you want about Dodge but my three have never left me stranded like that Yukon did.

Having been a long time AAA member and use 3-4 tows a year on my 3 sporys cars, can't complain about AAA, within 2 hours and always a flat bed. I'm that guy, sorry other members.

i used hagerty once, went fairly well. i was out a ways, so i knew the time distance was 40 minutes min,
50 minutes later, scooped up, dropped off in my shop, and tipped the guy. all on a sat night,
i think most of it depends on location,

First time in the 18 years I've owned my car, I had to get towed yesterday, and I drive my car a lot compared to most carguys I know., all year long (on dry days of course) I used AAA and the driver was great. He backed up my slight incline driveway and put it right into my garage.

Ok , turns out the Pertronix module in dizzy stopped working. It was in the car for13 years with never a problem. I guess that's good ???
