The valve train sounds a little noisy after my first hot adjustment a couple of months (100 miles) ago. Should i stop tightening the nut just after it stops clicking, or should I go a quarter turn after?

Go 1/4 to 1/2 turn down to preload the lifter.
You don`t want to pound out the snapring that holds the lifter together. |

If its a regular lifter, turn another 1/4 to 1/2 after zero lash.
If its a SD455 lifter, stop turning after the clicking is gone. Those lifters are a limited travel design. Street ´69 Firebird. 3800 lbs with driver. 455 with D-ports. 275x50 drag radials. Stock suspension. 11.24s@124.2mph (motor only)10.42s@130.3mph (+150hpNOS)

That's great! I was going to ask the same question this summer when I pulled the car out of storage!

These only apply if you are using aftermarket poly locks on the rockers.
