No not exactly the GNX's. The OE GNX turbo had a ceramic impeller and specifc eprom calibration. The TTA eprom has a different p/n and the cal has slight differences. The TTA uses different (FWD) heads, which requires a specific piston and headers. The TTA uses a specific downpipe. TTA does use the GNX intercooler. The GNX transmission had a specific valve body cal but am not sure if the TTA had it. The TTA does incorporate a "garage shift" package which reduces abrupt transmission engagement when shifting from P or N to D or R. TTA uses a higher pressure fuel regulator than either GNX or GN. All use the same torque convertor. Block (109) crank and rods are all the same.

No it was width, between the shock towers.

I saw some of these at Barret Jackson in Las Vegas
these machines are VERY impressive, and yes... for a V6 they are STRONG
personally i have never ridden in one, but have always thought they were the nicest looking out of all of the TA's
if i had to choose between a 69 TA or a TTA, that would be a hard choice, i'd take either

I had an opportunity to buy one a while ago, i regret not doing it

not only are they impressive in stock form, but man, they lend themselves to some nice mods too

also the seats looks really awesome in them

I remember when this car when new, they had a few of them at the Pontiac Day event at E-town when I went my one and only time in 1989. I remember the mid-July New Jersey heat being in the mid 90's that day with humidity to match. Don't know if these cars were privately owned or brought in by a dealer to promote sales, but they were running in the 13.40's at around 102-MPH. Given the 5.0 Mustangs of that era were running low 14's and Camaro's and other Firebirds were even slower, I was duly impressed.

i had a 1988 GTA with the 305 5 speed and optional rear(like 3.64's or so i think)anyway,it would out run my 1973 455Trans Am,handle a ton better because of the newer tire tech plus get over 20 mpg doing it,even tho that is not why we drive them.

We may not buy them or drive them for great gas mileage but we do buy them and drive them for outrunning 73's and out handling 73's! The 24 mpg on the highway is just another bonus and at well over $3.00 per gallon that's a nice bonus!

the 70-73 will always be my favorite body style,but the 3rd gen is a close 2nd.as an everyday driver,give me my 89 GTA.i just got mine,as i wanted a t-top car to drive this summer.it's a 10 footer as the paint isn't the greatest,but the rest is in great shape.like you say,the younger crowd really like them as i get thumbs up all the time.the younger ones don't remember our old ones.
