As for the exhaust, you can get headers that have bolt-on collectors. So you can swap out that 3.5 collect with a 3" one if you'd like. Not sure that the HP head is better for you but the exhaust/collector shouldn't be a factor in your decision |

Your signature says "supercharger coming soon".
I say just do that and forget the heads for now... |

If I can bail on the SC and do just the heads I'm down with that. Anywhere near 600hp is good.
I'll look into collector flange changes.

As slowbird mentioned, 750HP will likely be the the ceiling you can achieve with 1 3/4" headers. If you know youll never want that for this build, then D port is the easy winner. I only mention HPs because I too thought my Ds would be enough....and if I made the High Port decision earlier, I would have spent less on headers, and had a much easier time building more power now. That's all. But I am more track oriented, with street time - completely different than you.
I got my 341 D ports direct from KRE. With regard to flow, there is some debate on accuracy. The KRE flow bench seems to differ with results others have achieved n other benches. Different benches and different bench manufacturer outputs can vary, so take it for what its worth, but upon receiving my 341 D ports, SD showed them as flowing 324.1 CFM @ same lift (.700) and pressure (28"). I'm not saying one is more right than the other, I'm just saying there was a difference. The performance output of the car however, was in line with a 325 head IMO.

Race car stuff, yeah go for it. He advised me that if I needed to flow that much air on the street, stepping up to the High Port would be the best street friendly option. He's told me on several different occasions that under 600hp, the D port does a great job. Nearing that number and above, he recommends his High Ports. He is of course still trying to sell his product and the high ports demand a premium over the D ports, so take all that with a grain of salt.

Sounds like his bench has a 4-5% bump, seen this before.
Ya I'm not sure how the port velocity changes on D Port at say 325cfm vs High Port out the box at 330cfm but I know it matters and ports are not all the same velocity. At least there's options and they're all good.

Around 600 horsepower is where the round port head starts to make things easier over a d-port aluminum head. The more you push the envelope the bigger the advantage is for the round ports. A Hi-port offers very little if anything over a properly ported Edelbrock round port head when using a factory block.

Just got off the phone with Jeff at KRE, awesome and knowledgeable guy. Just ran through my goals and ordered my new engine parts with his help on the whole combo.
461 forged stroker, 11-12:1 compression, custom hydro roller (around 110 LS it sounds) KRE high ports without porting, Johnson Lifters, 1.65 Scorpions, Dougs 1 7/8 headers (had 1 5/8 on stock 16 heads). Other stuff too but that should get me where I want and not have to add any Torqstorm SC into the mix. Thanks everyone, I really needed to bone up on my Ponti power knowledge, been in the turbo world with my other 2 cars and haven't kept up with the GTO parts evolution. Paul, thanks for your time, really wished I could've sent everything too you at once but I know this is a weird time. Really appreciate it, we'll hook up later, I'm 44 and don't have kids, I spend their fake college tuition account on my cars. LOL

Nah man, just making a joke. The "magic" thing.
Lets not get into any back and fourth here. I want to see how the OPs build turns out. |
