What about some of these 98-02 F-body or Corvette kits?
Scarebird, any brackets to use these brakes? They have a very nice large rotor (almost 13").

I am sure there is, but the huge rotor market is pretty saturated to say the least. Also, few guys really run the huge rims necessitated by the 13" rotors- and with almost all A bodys, a 11" max is all that is required for excellent braking. Also, none take into consideration the preload needed for bolt-in axles

Ok I need another learning lesson...
Can you explain the preload needed for bolt-in axles?

pontiac_banshee,

You can get this kit for just over $500 if you shop around. I just did this swap last winter.

That looks good. What size are those rotors?
Was it bolt on or?
Got a link?
Thanks!

A lot of BOP bolt-in axles have the open tapered bearings. These are lubed by gear oil sloshing around. They need the same preload like your fronts do.

That Wilwood setup is nice, but does not have an e-brake. Speedway has them pretty cheap, around 400 IIRC. Not sure if they can be used with bolt in axle easily. Some guys shim out the bearing cup to fit; not easy.

This is not a stock Pontiac rear end. Its a 12 bolt Chevy housing, the rest Moser. They are Moser axles with the Ford big bearing and O-ring. No need for E brake with my set up.

The brakes are 12.19" dia. Unfortuntely, it was not a bolt on as much as I would like. I had to machine spacers to center the caplier bracket. My buddy who owns a race fab shop said I would have to "clearance" the corners of the caliper to clear the inside of the rim. They clearanced themselves!

Here are the Wilwood rear kits:

Those are 10-1/2" hat style, found on 1979-85 Eldo (front and rear) also found on 1983-95 S10 4WD trucks and SUV's.

Default Opps

Was informed today that caliper is on wrong side. Will edit pics this weekend to reflect that along with the E-Brake measurements and how to take them.

The '98-02 F-body rotors are 12" front and back. The C5s are 13" front, 12" back.

Keep in mind, rotors getting much over 12" are going to be hard to fit within some wheels one the caliper is installed.

Default Torgue question

Anyone know what the torgue is for the 72 8.5 10 bolts for the pinion shaft lock. It is real small and I have read 15 ft lbs and 25 ft lbs?????????????

WHERE IS ALL THIS??????
I am waiting to hear back from the E-Brake company for the cost and shipping of the E-Brakes. Once I get them back and get the 12 bolt cover back on the 10 bolt I will be finish all of this up. It wont be till next spring/summer that the car will be ready so this should be a nice setup. One other note, I am looking to paint the calipers orange or red using POR-15 caliper paint this fall to give it that oHHHHHHHH look through the rims.

As far as the big inch rotors for the rear??? I would imagine that with most of the brake being in the front system isnt a large rear system major overkill???

Whatever you do- do not break it!

That is what I have been preaching for awhile...
