Vidguy,
Did you also get the mounting plate on Ebay? Have You had a chance to do any mockup? the reason I ask is I noteced when the hydroboost is setting level as in Photo #5 in post #55 the master cylinder studs are setting at an angle as in the two photos below. I am going to remove the plate and turn it around and see what that does. Anyone else notice this?

Not on my setup, completely flat and level.
Side to side and front to back.

Ollie - Thanks for confirming which brackets you ordered and showed. I haven't had a chance to dig into my HB install yet, but hope to start soon. (I'm currently fabbing up brackets, etc... to install a Mark VIII elect fan.)

After reading your post #64, I'll have to see if the Astro van HB I bought off eBay has that tilt to it. Keep us posted on what you find out.

Ok, I got it fixed. Had to remove the snap ring and the big collar nut. The pin that holds the hydroboost looks like it was not verry prominate allowing the bracked to turn slightly when the collar nut was thigtened. Lined up the bracket and Hydroboost unit and retightened the collar, made shure nothing moved as I tighted the collar. Looks good, now.

GS470,
Take lots of photos of Your Mark VIII install. I have one to install too.
As soon as I save enougth $$$ for a DC controler.

Will do, Ollie. I haven't picked up a controller yet, either. Been focused on getting the thing mounted first, then I'll get it wired.

And I'm glad you got things lined up on the HB with minimal hassle.

Ollie-
I haven't mocked mine up yet. I ended up finding a hydroboost locally that had a flat bracket so I traded mine with the odd angled bracket for it..

I was wondering what you meant by your pictures. I see now.. It was "Twisted" ..
I did in fact take my bracket off the first Hydroboost I had (the weird angled bracket) by using a Pipe wrench on the big nut and taking the snap ring off. It came right off. But it the nut does have teeth on the bottom flat that mates to the Hydroboost. Some type of Locking concept.
I havent mocked mine up yet, but a quick look says I'll have to drill two of the holes a bit. I can deal with that.
I do have my Piratejack brackets, coupler, rod end and threaded rods. So hopefully I'll be able to make the pushrod length fit and mount to the firewall OK.

I have to get this thing in as I dont want to put my inner fender(s) back in before that, and, I dont want to put my control arms back on until I do that... :-)
We went to Yosemite for our Birthdays this weekend so I didnt work on the car. It was super nice..
I'll let you know when I get my H/B started.

Vidguy:

Forget about trying to drill or file the holes on the brackets, the brackes are harder then he!!. On the new Hydroboost you got did it come with the studs and nuts. The nuts are 15mm, the studs have a striated shank like wheel studs and stick through the plate a little bit. I put a flat washer under the nut and tighten both nuts down evenly.

Vidguy, I don't recall the plate on mine being especially hard to drill or file. It might be that some are made of different metal, but mine did not seem to be hardened steel or anything.

What is your HB off of? I thought Ollies looked like it is going to be a "bolt on" using the same basic parts you are planning to use?

It sounds like there may be more than one version of the flat plates.

Joel,

We'r talking about the # 650 brackes we got from Pirate Jacks. Thoes things are so hard all a rat tail file did was scrape off a little of the plating. The differance between the holes in the brackets and the studs is so small, when I tightened the bolts evenly, the brackes seated ok.
