Default Show me your stance

Lets see some pictures of your cars and how they sit. My car currently has Hotchkiss springs on it, I dont know which ones they were put on by the previous owner, but I hate the way it looks. It does not look lower in the front and the ass end sags plus the ride is just deplorable as I have mentioned many times on here. I wanna see some stances and know what springs people used. I've heard not to use Moog springs but then again arent they supposed to be the best suspension stuff? Ames doesnt offer a spring for the rear of my car that will raise it they only offer lowering springs. I got a quotes from a company on custom springs that took into account everything from aluminum heads to factory air but trust me you dont wanna know the quote I got back. I will go that way if I have to but I would rather have an off the shelf spring that gives me the look I want. I want it up in the back a little not stinkbug and a little lower in the front but not low rider. I think I am gonna put 17x8 on all four corners with even sized tires.

This is my car several years ago with my custom made .75" over stock height rear springs and stock front springs. I'm running 235/60/15's on the front with 255/60/15's on the back.

Since then I've put Koni Coil Overs on the front and lowered the front end some. Still running the same size tires, but redlines.

Here's a few pics and details on my 1964 Tempest. Due to the slope of my driveway the front appears to sit higher than the rear, but the car's stance is level on level ground.

Rolling stock consists of 17X8" custom-made black-painted steel wheels with 4.5" backspace (same as 'zero offset' on this wheel width) running factory Pontiac dog-dish caps. Tires are 235/45-17 all around. A 1/4" wide red stripe was painted on the rim lip to simulate the look of a factory 14" redline tire, fools a lot of people until they look a little closer.

These wheels are quite heavy at 37# each bare, the only drawback. It was worth it though to have a one-of-a-kind wheel, I'm not really looking for the ultimate in handling but the car is no slouch. I had the wheels made to put them out near the outer reaches of the wheel wells, in hindsight an extra 1/4" of backspace might have enabled me to fit slightly bigger tires a bit more easily.

Up front are '78 B-body (Bonneville wagon) spindles & 12" rotors re-drilled for A-body 5 on 4.75" bolt circle (B-body is 5 on 5"), along with Hotchkis tubular upper A-arms and HO Racing front springs. The factory lower A-arms have been reinforced with plates welded in the lower bushing area.

HO Racing 1-3/8" front & rear sway bars were installed, along with owner boxed rear lower control arms and new stock regular-ride rear springs cut down by 3/4 of a coil. Urethane bushings and KYB gas shocks are installed all around.

Here's my 67 running 17" Rally IIs with 235/50R17 Goodyear Eagle Sport tires. I raised the rear 1" and left the front alone.

Please don't freak out! It's a 67 Firebird front clip, 2" drop spindles carrying a 326 (421 going in springtime), with a rear from the same Firebird over stock rear springs (axle flip).
by weight, It's mostly Pontiac
tires are 6.70-15 with 52 Imperial hubcaps.

My seemingly never ending '68 Firebird project.
Used Detroit Speed springs all round.
The front springs made the car sit too low in my opinion, so I adjusted the ride height up a bit by playing with spacers that install in the lower control arm spring pocket.

Where did you get your custom springs made?

Coil Springs Specialties in MO.

http://coilsprings.com/

When I had them made back in 1995, they were only about $20.00 more than "stock" springs.

But I got exactly what I wanted.

They are considerably higher now as I called them and got a quote but I think thats what I am gonna buy because he guaranteed it would sit the way I wanted it to as long as I was accurate in my description

Here's the stance of my old '64 GTO with stock replacement '67 Firebird V8 springs installed in the front and cut regular-ride replacement springs in the rear. The rear springs were cut down by 1-1/2 coils, I used air bags inside the springs so I could adjust ride height up a little. The same look in the rear could be accomplished by cutting about 1 coil off the springs.

Wheels are 15X5 and 15X8, tires are 205/75-15s and 275/60-15s.

Stock front springs, 1-1/2 taller rear springs, all from CSS. Perfect stance for me.
