Default PCV Question for Mild Cam in 434 Tri-Power Engine

There has been some discussion of PCV valves vs. crankcase pressure leading to oil leakage.

For a 434 Pontiac engine with Tri-Power, Crower cam (068 higher lift version), 9.5 compression,--which PCV valve would be appropriate.

Both our engines spit oil out of the valve cover breather, but never push up the dipstick as some have experienced.

I like Delco CV679C (19310783) and SMP V112.

Oil out of breather mostly get cured by using the bolt down baffles under valve covers.

Cure for ring blowby is re-ring engine.

It seems a whole lot of valve covers ( aftermarket) put the breather hole right the heck above a rocker arm squirt hole.
I like Moroso tall covers and have always made thin gauge steel baffles to go below the breathers and then JB welded them to the valve cover.

Both of Dick’s GTOs are correct looking restorations so you can bet that both have stock GTO chrome covers, one of which has the factory push-in breather cap. Both have factory valley pans with the rear PCV location.

What can one say, if your not running restricted oiling up to the top because your running a hydro cam, and your not making use of a baffle and you do not have breather tube up to the air cleaner, and not running a vacupan and at the extreme not running a dry sump, then this will happen once a certain rpm is reached.

That’s why you often see a shop rag tied around or something else pushed up around the breather tube under the cap.

Service regularly.
