You were cruising Woodward with the wrong car! I believe I saw you in your '63 Grand Prix. Should have swung into Pasteiner's. Harold Sullivan had a whole theatrical show with a classic Michigan State Police car escorting him driving Jimmy Addison's GTX followed by the kid driving his dad's black Challenger the "Black Ghost" with a Dodge pickup and a drummer in playing in the bed. You could have broken in with your dad's '65 GTO. I was stuck and blocked in at Pasteiner's lot with my '68 GTO. Couldn't get out. David happened to bring the Black Bird by just after the parade went by us. Would have been interesting if we could have timed it to have your '65 GTO and me borrow the Blackbird and break in and join their MOPAR parade. LOL Heck I'd put my '68 GTO up against the Black Ghost! Now that would be a good race! LOL

News update: the 1970 Challenger Street Hemi aka Black Ghost that no one in Detroit Woodward Ave racing circles ever heard of. Has been on display with Stellantis (Fiat Chrysler's) soon to be released NEW Black Ghost. A display has been at the MECUM Auction. They are going to auction off the 1970 Challenger. It showed up twice after the Dream Cruise at our Saturday morning gatherings at Pasteiner's Auto Zone Hobby's. It was accompanied by Ralph Gilles, Stellantis Chief of Design and CEO of Street & Racing Technology. Ralph arrived driving his all Carbon Fiber 1968 Dodge Charger with modern drivetrain and technology. Customer car body alone are $200,000.00. I believe the "Black Ghost" will be up for auction at MECUM INDY May 12-20, 2023.

Where is all of this money coming from? I mentioned the money issue to Werner Meir. He's response was PPP money that these guys didn't spend already. I thought that was an interesting observation.

The Silver Bullet is there also. My buddy owned that car from 1979 until the mid 90's when, I think the current owner, bought it from him. I rode in it once when my buddy first bought it, around 1979-1980.

I was at Autorama on Friday night with a few friends. We saw both the "Black Ghost" and Jimmy Addison's car. I did see the owner of the Challenger wondering around. He wasn't wearing his usual hat. Non of my friends saw him near his car either. Nice piece to keep in memory of your father. But too much hype for a nothing special "Woodward" car that never went north of 8 Mile Rd where the REAL action was. Chrysler is going to make that family some money for all of the hype just to bring out their Special Edition "Black Ghost" new Challenger.
Saw Jimmy Addison's silver GTX sitting in the isle so you couldn't miss it. I liked the cars down stairs much better. The way hot rodding was. Home made low buck do it yourself.

I agree, there were some nice cars upstairs, but we liked the lower-level cars better also.

Uncle Tony's Garage (former editor of Mopar Action magazine) did an interesting video about the Black Ghost car after it sold at Mecum. He called it the greatest scam in collector car history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2LjOvcnBFU

One of the BIGGEST Frauds. None of us who raced Woodward Ave, Northwestern Hwy/ I696, Telegraph Rd back in the day. Ever heard of it! Much less worry about a "Stock" unmodified "Street" Hemi! A car when sitting at a light who's plugs would load up! Never would have been feared here in Detroit! With all of our speed shops on or just off Woodward. Seriously! Not to mention all the Corp engineering "Field" testing or doing "Market Research"! LOL
