Is the shifter cable for a TH400 compared to a TH350 ?

Set the cable when it is in park and have someone move it to low while you watch it.

be sure that you have a good clean engine ground when replacing one of these cables.

if you don't the elec system will try to ground thru the cable and will burn it up over time.
