Default For Sale- The original 'quicksilver97ta' 1997 Trans Am

quicksilver97ta

I am selling my 1997 Trans Am which I have owned for 17 years. The car is tastefully modified with custom graphics, wheels, suspension, and drivetrain upgrades. It was featured in the August 2012 issue of High Performance Pontiac which can be viewed online here:
http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...tiac_trans_am/

The car has been garaged kept its entire life and has never seen daily driver duty as it only has 68,500 miles on it . Simply put, it has always been a well kept toy and it shows. While it was very cool to have a feature in HPP it was also very ironic. As a long time subscriber, a few years after I purchased the car I was eager to follow HPP as they modified a 96 Formula. With baited breath I waited for each issue to follow what HPP did with their Formula. There were 3 issues where HPP worked on the Formula adding Kenny Brown Double Diamond sub-frame connectors, Eibach Prokit lowering springs, larger Enkei wheels and tires, and last but not least, a Suncoast Creations Ram Air hood and functional ram air box. That’s where the modding started, I added the same components to my T/A in lock step with each issue however, while HPP selected the LT1 stock style Ram Air hood, due to the lag time of printing the article and me buying my hood, I was able to purchase Suncoast’s newly released at the time LS1 style Ram Air hood with the more aggressive hood scoop design. While I didn’t care for the rest of the ’98 face lift, the Ram Air hood was totally awesome. Graphics and drivetrain mods followed. At one point I had Rallye stripes on the car but when Dennis Mecham made available his 4th gen hood bird graphics for a limited time I jumped on it. I had to modify his bird design as it was for his unique Macho Trans Am hood which has a large area of louvers on it that the bird went around. I ended up with some extra ‘feathers’ that I thought looked very tasteful placed on the sides of the rear spoiler. Drivetrain mods may sound extensive to some however they are really fairly straightforward consisting of rebuilding the original LT1 engine with a stroker kit and freshening the 6-speed transmission, better exhaust, and beefing up everything behind the transmission as the original drivetrain pieces are very light duty components. The engine is a beast (400+ rear wheel hp, 400+ rear wheel tq) but is pump gas friendly, the 6-speed tranny is smooth and quiet, and the McLeod twin disc clutch is easy to drive on the street but will handle any aggressive duty as well. Every creature comfort works as well, cruise, A/C, electric locks and windows, power lumbar support, ABS, ect. The interior is nicely preserved with only minor wear showing on the driver’s seat. There are no SES or other warning lights illuminated on the dash and all the gauges work too. The finished car, with the graphics, the t-tops, and the stick shift, has always made me think of a highly resto-mod’d second gen with a fuel injected corporate mill.
Reason for selling, tough decision as I don’t want to but things change,,, with 3 kiddo’s now and 2 other ponchos I could simply use the money and space to move forward with other goals. I am located just outside Dallas. I have a very detailed mod list available and more pics as well. If you are truly interested in the car pm me here or call me at 214-228-4173 and I would be happy to discuss the car.

Asking $21,500 Or Best Offer

Here are some pics of the bottom side, a lot of work done here.

Kenny Brown Double Diamond Subframe connectors, made in USA.

Denny’s Nitrous Ready Driveshaft, made in USA.

Spohn Torque Arm with crossmember mount and driveshaft loop, made in USA.

Moser 12 bolt rear, HD Eaton posi, 33 spline Moser axles, T/A performance cast aluminum cover with cap supports, all made in USA, retains factory disc brakes and factory ABS function. 3.73 Yukon gears, Spohn lower control arm relocation brackets, Jegster lower control arms.

Thunder Racing Panhard rod.

Edelbrock Truflow 4” in/out muffler. The car has a 4” custom exhaust after the y-pipe, done by Lane’s Performance. It’s kind of a mellow loud but not too loud, that big muffler does the job.

This car looks every bit as good as it does in the pictures and it has an awesome sound with that exhaust. If I had any garage space left it would already have a new home. This car is a one of one.

Thanks! Took home the Bronze in the 82-02 Modified F-body at PSN this year. Here are some pics of the 383 since you really can’t see it too well once installed. Yes, it’s Pontiac Blue Metallic, what did you expect?

SRP pistons.

Eagle rods and crank.

Clearance was needed for the stroker in a couple of places.

Back in the K-member, ready to install.
