Default Hydraulic clutch

Greetings: Wondering if any of you have removed your old mechanical clutch systems and installed a new hydraulic clutch system?

Any pros or cons with the new hydraulic system?

I will be installing the new hydraulic system from American Power Train.

Thanks

I went from Turbo 400 to a hyd clutch when I put the TKO in. It's been good since about 2012.

I have a hydraulic, but prefer mechanical. I replaced a leaking slave cylinder, that had seen very little use, once. I took it apart, and saw nothing wrong, so I put it back together(didn't reuse it).It wasn't rebuildable, just cheaply built. The APT kit has some better features than mine does though.

I converted my 4 speed '70 GTO and my 6 speed '70 T/A. No regrets. In fact, doing another build of a '73 T/A . Going with the hydraulic clutch and 6 speed from American power train.

Its not that I dont like its just that I have found there is no advantage over good factory linkage! My 63 tempest had crap factory linkage and I found it more EZ to do the hyd bearing than try to redesign the factory 63 linkage. My 69 GTOs,my 69 Birds and all my big cars have used factory linkage with no issues(except for putting 63 linkage in the 62 big cars as it is better).I also use old school B&B clutches that have more pedal pressure and the hyd bearing did not make it anymore EZ.Just save a lot of money and time on installation with the factory man linkage..FWIW,Tom

In process of switching my 64 to Hydraulics, using muncie. Mcleod kit. Had to space tranny back 1/8 inch.
have not done pedal part yet. Bought the 64 Chevelle kit they list, they won't say for sure it will fit the Pontiac. LOL
Will see soon.

That is the same kit I have in my '40 Ford. (Pontiac powered, of course.) I worry that someday it will blow fluid all over my expensive clutch at the worst possible moment, but it works really really nice.

Just a quick update, Thanks for the replies folks. Finished up installing the hydraulic clutch system yesterday and all I can say is wow. It has reduced the pedal force, but the big change I would have to say is the smoothness in the pedal feel from start to finish. No more noise, grinding or sloppy feeling from the pedal as you push and release the clutch pedal.. Extremely smooth.
