Default engine dies when hard braking

Hi: Hoping someone might direct me toward a solution on this.

Engine want to die on hard braking. I have a hydra boost system for braking. No vacuum booster.

600 hp, Torker 2 with 950 quickfuel. Runs great except when hard braking, wants to die. Standard Transmission. I have to rev it up to keep it running.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Charles

Float level, or needs a "vent whistle" for the float bowls is my first guess.

Does jambing your foot on the brake while not moving do anything? Or is it just when moving?

Drop your rear float level to 1/16 to 1/8 inch below the sight plug opening.

Seems like a float issue like the others said.

Ok, Thanks. Checking out these vent whistles now. Never heard of them before. Makes sense.

Thanks again

Does it have the vent tubes still?
Connect the 2 tubes with a piece of hose that has a piece cut out of it in the middle to make the vent higher up essentially.
Quick and easy fix to try if it is spilling over.

....I’d hope a quick fuel carb came with all the “whistles”, and bells

Don't be afraid to drop the floats some to where the fuel is just getting read to run out on the threads of the sight holes. Taller vent tubes may help if it's actually chasing up the tubes and spilling into the engine.

Check the floats and fuel pressure. A soggy float or half filled brass one will allow the quick forward movement of the fuel to cause fuel control issues at the inlet seats. I wouldn't run much more than 6psi provided you have adequate fuel delivery and if you are running a high output electric pump set-up make sure there is a return instead of "dead-head".

Many pump manufacturers tell you some of those pumps can run dead-head, but I've seen them have issues with fuel control which is very quickly fixed by installing a return system.......Cliff

Steve: Yes our weather is in the low numbers. I was checking weather maps for US. and Can. and looks crappy for another week then warming up..

Thanks Cliff: Ya I have an Aeromotive setup on both cars with return lines. Wifes car is fine. Mine was fine last year. It just started this year. I'm going back to Esso fuel from the Shell. It just doesn't like the Shell Premium. I will check this stuff out when weather turns nicer. Thank you all for you thought..
