Default 71 TA Alt Wire Question

Just purchased a new engine wiring harness as my original harness was hacked up.
The question I have is what is the correct fuse that should be installed in the fuse holder at rear of Alternator.
I have searched in the 71 service manual but i nave been unable to find the info.
Thanks in advance.

Larry

Did your new harness come with a fuse holder? Mine didn't and my original did...

If it's anything like a '73 it's a 30amp. It's also marked that on the outside of the fuse holder housing.

Mike,

Yes the new harness came with the fuse holder just as my original did. Ordered it from The Parts Place and is manufactured by American Autowire.

I did not look on the new fuse holder or the original one.
Thank you for the info.

Interesting as I got one from M&H and the other from Lectric and both didn't have that fuse holder.

My 71 trans am has the fuse holder. My car still has the original 37 amp alternator and original engine harness on it. The car was built in Norwood and the build date is 02B.

Looking at other diagrams and the AC section, I think all AC setups for 1970 and on had the fuse.
BTW, they all said 30 amp fuse.

Yes, Thanks John I actually found this diagram in my 71 service manual after original posting. Thanks to SD73 for providing an answer 6 minutes after my original post (WOW Thank You)! Also wanted to add that my original engine wiring harness also had the fuse holder.
Thanks again to everyone for the support!

Surprised to hear that the Parts Place one was more correct than M&H and Lectric. Kudos to the Parts Place.
