Default Window tint 68-72 cars

Can I see some pics from those that have 68-72 A body’s with window tint applied?

Always thought it would accentuate the body lines and give the car a different look.......

Thanks

Here's my old 72 LeMans GT. The side window's were around 75% dark (25% penetration), and the rear was full on 95% limo tint (5% penetration). Really helped keep the car cooler here in the Phoenix summer's, and gave the A/C a fighting chance. Of course I luv the look too.

I will do the same to my 71 GTO next spring. Both of my 67's are tinted as well.

Hope this is what you're looking for.

Is that film tint applied to surface or is that within the glass?

Illegal to tint anything but the rear glass and rear quarter glass that dark here and that's just SUVs and vans. Cars have to have 32% penetration on all glass. Looks nice though.

I run 20% all around usually.

I have 15% on my 71 currently, with a 5% eyebrow.

According to my tint guy, I went one step darker than "legal" for AZ at the time too (6 years ago). But I decided to run the risk of being "illegal" in order to have the look/function I want. Of course I could see thru them just fine, as expected. Another benefit is that others have a much harder time seeing inside when tinted.

Interesting sideline... so why is it not illegal for a limo to run the same dark tint?

I know it's not a GTO, but here's what my T/A looks like. 5% Eyebrow, 15% on the doors.

My Fathers GTO will get the same treatment when it's back from paint.

Greg, is that 32% on your car in the pic?

Looks like not many tinting their cars?

Rare that I drive anywhere with the windows up so the rear and quarter glass would normally be the only windows showing tint on a regular basis and mostly the rear for that matter...

I think you might be right. Here in Phoenix, almost everyone has tint on their daily drivers, but on their classics, I dunno? Probably not so much.

Like you, most of the time my front windows are down too, but during our 4 hottest months of summer, mine stay up with the A/C going. I also put up my windshield shade every time I park any of my cars outside.

Ever since I tinted a car for the first time (20+ years ago while living in Colorado), I was really happy with it. I have tinted every car since, and I don't see that changing. The tint is a good look to me for sure, but primarily, it's there for function. Another benefit is that it's much easier on interiors.

When I was 16, dark tint was the style. I became an expert at installing the stuff, since after a fix-it ticket you’d need to peel it off and have it signed off at the police department. Then you’d drive home and put some fresh stuff on again.

Two years later, the style flipped - we all started peeling our tint off for the “clean” look: which I still prefer.

I had one car with all the windows tinted in the years since. Driving at night and having to look through the dark drivers and passenger side windows drove me nuts.

Today, I drive a Yukon which, like all SUVs, came from the factory with all windows behind the driver tinted. I understand tinting your windows in Phoenix, though.

Not that huge of a deal

Living in Arizona where the sun shines most of the year, we daily drive our classics and I don't have the windows tinted in either of them. Both of those daily drivers don't have AC either so 90% of the time we are driving with the windows down. They are only up on days I want to run the heater and that's not a long period of the year in Arizona.

I do like tint, and have a couple cars with tint but for the most part I've been reluctant to add the dark tint to the classics. The cars we have without added tint do have the factory applied tint, which doesn't amount to a whole lot. I have kicked around the idea from time to time, adding tint. Just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. My sons fox body, which is black, he had the dark tint applied and on that car with that exterior color, it looks sharp. I'm still on the fence whether I'd like it on the Z or Firebird, or even the Chevelle for that matter. I think the Z would be the wrong car for it, but the other cars stand a better chance. Years ago I did apply dark tint to my 72 blazer when I was daily driving that. But that vehicle has very large side windows and you sit up pretty high in it, more exposed to sun light.

Yes we wear sun screen, I've had enough skin cancer removed that I apply it as regular routine every day before stepping outside.

I've always wanted to have the windows on my black '71 GTO tinted. Thought it would be a cool look along with the black chrome projector headlamps.

Oops... I missed this post somehow and I'm not sure which picture you talking about?.... But if you're talking about the car in my signature it's just the 1968 factory tint.
