I have a set of Ram Air Restorations d-port manifolds that I'll be selling shortly. 2.5". I purchased them in 2002 and had Jet Hot coat them (inside and out) before installation. I pulled them off and put them in storage when I put Doug's on my car a few years later. We moved the office and no longer need a mini-warehouse, so my stash of Pontiac parts has to find a new home.

I ordered my D ports and some other things yesterday. Maybe he is selective on when he feels like talking on phone? Buying iron was his choice...not mine. If profit is the issue raise your prices, I would have paid more.

Thankful for seeing this post. Reminded me to check their stock on the oversized round port manifolds.

I ordered my set today. Fingers crossed lol
I tried calling multiple times with no luck, only an answering machine. Even the 1-800 number is disconnected.

Will keep everyone posted.

I ordered my OS round ports 3/19 got them 4/17.

The (847)340-9286 number works the (800)421-8455 does not. Spoke to him a couple of times to check status as he said they will ship within a week. Always answered the phone. I know he is a one man operation.

Next time someone calls they could ask if they got the 68-72 D port manifolds in yet from the foundry and just waiting for machining. I'm curious but I don't want to call him just to ask that.

Spoke to Paul last night. He said they had received 100 pair of the '64-'67 O/S manifold castings. Those should be done in a couple of weeks. Then they are supposed to receive more. Since I just signed up a couple of months ago, I'm in the queue at 200+. So, that is all I have....

I know, I know, call me an optimist. I just spoke to Paul and he said they just got several hundred of the right and left castings for the 64-67 o/s A-body manifolds. He has over 200 orders for them and will fill them in chronological order.

Over sized D ports are ordered and will be here in a couple of weeks. Also ordered the 3" down pipes. I also wanted the 3" X pipe from the headpipe to mufflers but I guess theyre not making those anymore so will have to use a universal 3" kit I guess.

I recieved my Oversized round port exhaust manifolds today.

Order date 4/17 delivery date 5/31

The only thing I can say is WOW these things are Heavy!

Does anybody know what standard round port exhaust manifolds weigh? .

Also I am not sure what to expect but they look very blemished to me from poor casting quality. Is this normal? It's the type of casting you expect from Chinese knockoffs intakes.

Back in the day RARE claimed these to be lighter than other aftermarket iron manifolds. Got any pics of yours? Past pics of RARE manifolds show a decent looking casting. Also used to be CNC ported,,,not sure now. Still waiting for my oversized D ports

Would be interested to read what the RARE OS Roundport (455SD) style manifolds weigh
Have an earlier mfg pair on a 455 HO engine, not pulling them off.

RARE 490802-RH weighs 20lbs
RARE 490803-LH weighs 18lbs

Per my scale.

Here are some pics of the areas I feel aren't very nicely casted. Correct me if I'm wrong since I am no expert. To me they don't look nice. Luckily when they get bolted on nobody will see it.

please forgive me posting some of my ignorance;
I have always understood that the OE exhaust manifolds were a low quality cast-iron, that was known to be porous - and was VERY hard to do nice repairs on.

My experience on this subject come from some bad advice given to an eighteen year old version of myself (in 1995) - I was told to have the exhaust manifold studs replaced, and the exhaust shop that I used damaged one of the stud bosses on my LH(drivers) manifold (1970-YZ engine);
After roughly six years of repeated "fixes" that never held I bought a LH-1968 RA manifold and ran that - then kept an ear open for a reputable shop that could actually do a proper welded repair;
It took me roughly twenty years before I could find a welder who was able to do a proper repair.

I had a set of R.A.R.E. D-ports maybe six years ago that I got as a part of a package deal, but sold them to my brother that same year;
My recollection was that they looked great, and had far superior finishing than the OE parts.

What I'm seeing in the first two pictures from post #137 looks to be extra grinding (or finishing from the as-cast) manifolds - am I wrong?

I would think that if better quality (and less porous) cast-iron is used, that they should be heavier;
Now if they are hogged out the N-th degree, that might remove enough material to negate the extra weight from better cast iron;
But maybe I am wrong(?)

I ordered my oversized D ports on 5/16. He said allow 3 weeks for shipping. If they look like the pictures in post #137 I will be very disappointed, especially with the price I paid. I will post pictures when I receive them.
