Never ever reply to any text regarding your money, bank accounts,
credit cards, etc. Ignore all these texts.......they are always scams. If somebody has
a legitimate issue, they will contact you by snail mail.

First thing I think of, why would the post office have your phone number in order to be able to send a text?

We have had a bunch of Mail Envelope theft in the Detroit suburbs and surrounding communities. Some 50 miles away.
Authorities busted 10 "employees" who are now headed for prison.
Not sure who they worked for actually.

In our area, the problem is that a letter carrier got robbed and the criminals took a master key for the post office drop boxes. Now that key copies are undoubtedly circulating within the scumbag world, there are repeated instances of mail stolen from the dropboxes.

I drop all of my outgoing mail at the indoor mail slot in the post office.

About five years ago, I started having problems with my mail being
intercepted and people using my info for fraudulent purposes. I went to the
post office down the street from my business and asked them what was going on. They told me that people had been repeatedly installing a fishing device
in the post office outdoor mail boxes that would allow them to retrieve envelopes out of the boxes in the middle of the night. They told me that they knew it was happening but that the government was unwilling to install a more secure box or hire security to catch the thieves. They advised me to only
mail a letter by dropping it in to the mail slot inside the Post Office. Since I started doing that I have had no more problems. About a year ago, that Post Office decided to remove the outdoor drop boxes altogether due to continuing
mail theft.
