Get Eric White's book. It has all of the codes listed.

Didn't see a PP code radiator.

What are the years?

PB was used for many years, heavy duty for automatics.
(1968 - 73?)

Thanks for the response! Someone mentioned that the PB one might be a 69-70 application. I think the tanks have a IF and a BB code on them.

I did find a PP. (in 72 Service Manual)
It looks to be for a big Pontiac.
(wagons, Bonne, etc)

I saw the PB in the years 68 to 73.
(could be newer, didn't look further)

Yours still have the tag on them?

I think thee is some numbers at the base of the tag that may have a date on it.
(real small stampings)

Both radiators have the tags on them. The #'s I see on them state 152 and the other has a 75. Medium size font so not sure if I need to look for something else. They measure 31x19 which is the same I think for an A body car.

These are real small, down by where it's soldered on (or crimped).

I thought I had a pic of one, but can't find it.

Here is where it was:

It is probably covered with rust like mine.
Real small.

The other numbers on the tag are for the end tank codes and probably the 'core'.

IF and XK are the tanks.
One would be the inlet tank the other the outlet tank.

My PB (didn't notice it was a PB until now), is probably not from an A-body.
(never parted one)

I did do a GP, so it may have come from that.
Or I got it in a deal, but don't think so.

Thanks for the pic. If I read the #s correctly it seems like it has 3030119.

If the embossed number John has circled, the 70xxxx radiator part number, is still present on the edge of the PB rad tag? if so is it 3016679? can relate more info, if that is the case.

The PP tag, is it embossed on the edge 3025369?

Both of these 6 digit 30xxxx numbers are Harrison part numbers for the entire radiator, they are not date related.

On the PP rad, would also look at the passenger side tank near the large embossed two letter codes (X K) for the tank, & you should see a small letter A-M designating the month of manufacture.

Will ck back in later this evening.

If the PB coded rad tag has 3030119 embossed on it, the radiator is a multi-line usage service replacement from the mid '70's. Original usage PB coded radiators were installed in '68-70 & in very early '71's. During the Fall of '70 strike, their production usage was eliminated.

Would the PB radiator be in a GP?
(parted a 70 or 71 GP)

It might have been in a 70 GP. The code by the letters on the pass side tank is a 5.

The date code on the PP on the pass side tank is a C.

Hi all,
Just checking in on this old thread. I just got a radiator in as trade bait and was wondering what it is off of.
XK outlet tank with a M date code
IF inlet tank.
Factory 4 row
No codes tag

In one of the pervious posts somesone mentions a book by Eric White. Anyone know where I can get one of those?

Thanks in advance!

www.stores.customautoapparel.net shows a pic of the spiral wrapped book.

Eric passed away too young, near 7 years ago. The book he authored for the GTOAA is found occasionally on eBay. Radiator code info was pretty much limited to two letter radiator tag ID codes, similar to how it is presented in GTO Restoration Guide. Beware the latter book has numerous errors & omissions.

Originally a PB radiator. PB radiator was used in '68-71 Pontiac A-body with 4 core radiator & turbo 400. Also automatic '69-71 GrandPrixs. '70 Chevelle/Elco with BBC & lower gears. Olds & Buicks are different due to design of pass side tank. '72 model year brought the mitered top passenger tank on Pontiac A-body/GP radiators.
